Baltimore Area Guitogether September 27 - Coordination and RSVP's

OK, we are ready, (we think) to host a little get-together this coming Saturday, September 27, in Baltimore, MD, at 847 West University Avenue.

Doors will officially open at 2:00 PM until everyone is ready to leave, though we expect to be able to start the clean up no later than 9:00 PM. If you are there a early, that is fine, you are welcome to come on in. I have some local musicians planning to come by later after a high school cross-country meet, hopefully that will also include some other instruments.

We will have a big bowl of chile for munching on later in the day, as well as some finger food from the get-go. We should have enough food and drink, but if you want to bring a favorite wine or beer or dessert to share, feel free. But don't feel guilty if all you bring is a guitar, banjo, mandolin, or voice. Or even only a desire to hang out with some people who love music produced by those types of instruments.

There will be a couple of extra guitars on hand for those who do not wish to bring an instrument, plus some nice dreadnaughts for all to A/B/C and comment on. (Those will be a Martin CSN Tolman, a Gibson SJ 60, a Huss & Dalton DR-H, and a Crafters of Tennessee Brazilian. And maybe a handmade special by Carlo Greco of the Guild glory days. Play away and critique away.)

I am going back to the other post and copy and paste the driving instructions. I would say PM except there seems to be a limit on the number of PM messages a board will take, so email me at jim@baltimorerunning.com so we can get a rough head count.

One admin note of some importance to a few, there are two cats in the house. Karen is allergic to cats but has them anyway, so there is never much dander around. But if you have allergies to cats, just be aware ahead of time. They will probably run off and hide since they don't take much to strangers.

Directions to 847 W University #1 [-]

The address is 847 West University Parkway in Baltimore,MD, 21210. Take 95 or 695 to I 83, take the Cold Spring Lane East exit got up the hill to the first light at Roland Avenue, turn right onto Roland, at the next light three blocks down veer to your left. 847 is about two hundred yards down on the right.

If coming from I-70, go all the way to the end, get on Security Boulevard, and make a right at the first light (Forest Park). Make a right at the next light (Windsor Mill). It will turn into Gywnns Falls Parkway. Follow two miles to Druid Lake Drive or whatever it is at Druid Hill Park and turn left. Follow around the lake (left turn towards I 83) then get in the left lane and follow I 83 about a mile north to Cold Spring Lane east and follow above directions.

From mid-town east of JHU take 33rd to Charles Street, right on Charles, left on University, when you get to Overhill look for parking, the house is on the left. If you get to Roland, make a U turn and come back down the street.

Look for an old bus stop / trolley stop on the left, the house is immediately across from that. The fire hydrant is right next to the sidewalk leading to the doorway. The front yard is covered in mulch, the two neighboring houses have grass.

City bus service does not run on weekends, so you can park there with your emergency flashers on and bring your instruments and stand onto the porch, then find legitimate parking just down the way. A quarter mile down is another traffic signal, you can do a left turn which is really a U-turn and come back up and find parking on the other side of the street a short walk away.

Well, we have a small but enthusiastic crowd coming, most in the mid-to late afternoon time frame. We should have room for last minute additions, so come on down.

Oh, and I have been reminded to remind everyone to bring a guitar stand too.

My cell is 443 326 7959 if you get turned around.

Thanks Jim!
I'll be there. Is anyone plugging in or interested in any toys of that nature? Let me know and I can throw some things in the car.

I also had a great time Jim and thank you again for having us in your home. Hopefully I can stay for the duration next time.

Maybe I'll try to have one in the spring outside on our deck while the weather is still mild. Matt could bring his setup and the whole neighborhood can listen in, except of course, whenever I play, then, there would be technical dificulties that would be solved just as I would finish. :)
