Hey Paul,

I do not think you need so many guitars. I am always available if you have no place to 'house' all these guitars!!!!! :D;)

Rainbow, someday I hope to be able to let you know what the fee would be to store one of these permanently.

Right now - we're just learning a LOT.

This is totally new to me - but I bet not unique at all. I find myself thinking of designs for guitars I plan to build down the road.

As mentioned, my next guitar (#5) will most likely be the same shape as #3 - but I'm going more for a theme guitar.

I'm planning on bloodwood bindings that I've already purchased from StewMac - and am thinking of taking the Aramaic text from the tattoo that Kyle and I share and putting it on the fretboard. Why? Because the text says "Blood of My Blood" - and that would be a fun tie-in with bloodwood binding and other bloodwood accents.

Here's a rough layout of the text on the 12th fret of our neck design. Sorry it is just white text - but I plan on it being either abalone or bloodwood. The graphic is placed on a photo of my neck from guitar #1.

Actually no.... the logo is a design that my son and I came up with for a tattoo we each got last April.

http://www.wheezetones.com/band/guitarbuild/tattoo1.jpg

The design combines a bunch of letters from our names - and a cross - and then we added the aramaic text which DOES mean "Blood of my blood".

We liked the design of the logo so much that we decided to use it on our guitars - but the aramaic text was too small at that size to use.

Well - this thread was left hanging last fall - and I'm here to celebrate the fact that guitar #003 was strung up tonight.

It was a long process where many new skills were learned - but we are very pleased with the initial results.

A GREAT finish job was done last month by Joe White, and it was a very special moment to get to play the finished tonight with my son. We've still got a little tweaking to do to the setup and need to dress the frets - then we'll see where we stand.

Thanks for all of you who waited us out on the build.

Believe it or not - #004 is well on the way and #005 is being started. We're hooked!

Enjoy the photos! (more to come when I have more time)

Paul,
The guitar looks great. Love that rosette wood. I'm sure the finish is great from Joe, too.

Man....you must have had a great teacher! Just kidding. I'm a strong believer that the student has as much or more to do with success than the teacher in many cases.

Great job,

Kevin... you should almost get equal billing on this guitar as so much of it came from you. Thanks for getting us started down this road - and for providing the items we needed as we got our shop set up!

For those of you who don't know, Kyle and I took a one week class from Kevin last May and I truly believe it put us about a year or two down the road of experience.

Fliss... I'm quite happy with the sound for a small body guitar. It is a lot louder than I thought it would be.

As a perfectionist and tinkerer I may do some sanding on the tone bar braces to see if I can coax even a little more from her.

I have a friend who is interested in her - and I'd be happy to have him own her just the way she sounds now. However - I think she has a little more in her ;)

Going home an playing that guitar last night was definitely an awesome experience. Very cool to play something that you just built. I am sure we will be posting pictures soon of the next guitars.

Hey Paul :up: I'm genuinely envious....you're doing one of the few things that I'd like to accomplish at some point in my life (learning to craft guitars is right up there with learning to pilot a plane, and some other things in my "bucket list") :D...Great job..Aloha,

Well - it's been quite a while since I posted any updates on the progress of this guitar and I need to get some new photos up here.

But I wanted anyone following this thread to know that we started another guitar over the winter and are putting together a thread about it - with photos.

This guitar design and execution was mostly done by my son. We call this guitar #004

Here's the thread: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151982
