I posted this once before, but there has been enough interest here and at the Martin board. A Mid-Atlantic guit-pickers guittogether in Baltimore in the 800 block of West University Avenue (21218), on September 27. 2008, about a mile from the Hopkins campus.
Karen thinks we can accommodate up to forty or so, I think less if everyone brings there own guitar! (Plus a stand)
I already have pm's asking about BYOB. Well, maybe. More details later, some other prior hosts are providing much appreciated logistical details.
But mark your calendar and save the date if you are in the Washington/Baltimore/Philadelphia area, or close.
PM's to me here, or at jim@baltimorerunning.com, least preferred since they may get lost.

Jim,
I could easily be interested in this event. I'm in Frederick, MD and I'm not too familiar with the Hopkins campus, but I can Google-map it of course. Keep me posted please.

great you can do this. a load of fun. going to try and come. On the hook as a host of the annual American Folk Art Society gathering that is in the Baltimore-Washington DC area this year. Its a 3 day event and I am hoping to carve out some time to come to your place. Will send you suggestions others made to me to help me out when I was hosting. They were extremely helpful asI couldn't find my copy of Miss Manners anywhere. look for pm or 2.

Lancaster, PA here -- might be able to make it! I'll check the calendar. I won't bring my guitar since it's cheep...as long as others don't mind sharing?

I am getting some tips from Jeff and others about how to logistically plan things, but suffice it to say that we are moving forward with the planning process. While it is still too early for most people to really commit to attending, we will be posting little reminders as we get closer to the date of what to expect.
With that in mind, rule number one for this guitogether:
1. If you are a champion bull rider, heavy-weight champ of the world, or WWF title-holder, just leave the monster beltbuckles at home. You can bring pics though.

Well, we are about a month out, and starting to get a little excited. Time is not definite, but I am looking at noon til sixish unless Karen has something going on that I don't know about yet.
I am not going to ask for RSVP's until a week or ten days out since I know that a lot of people may a number of things going on to sort through. But if you are thinking about coming to this (or even another one somewhere else) I would suggest that you write down a little list of songs that you know how to play or sing or both and bring it with you so that when someone asks, "What have you got?" you don't go brain dead on us when you have over twenty songs memorized in your voice and fingers. Just pull out your list and pick one.
If you are like me and don't feel comfortable singing or playing solo in a group setting, but have songs that you like to play behind, send me some of those and your key and I will put up a list here. Invariably there is someone that likes to sing that song and will be happy to have you back them up.
For those of you who are coming without a guitar, I have arranged to have a few extra on hand (Gibson, Guild, Larivee), so there will be no excuse to be a total wallflower!!!
Regards,
Jim

I'm a worship leader and mostly focus on Christian and praise music, but have many years of "jamming" under my hat, so happy to play along with whatever is being played.
I'd also be happy to bring a djembe and provide some percussion support.

Well, it is about time to start thinking about some RSVP's so we can get some food and drink together. As a general reference, the address is 847 West University Parkway in Baltimore. Take 95 or 695 to I 83, take the Cold Spring Lane East exit got up the hill to the first light at Roland Avenue, turn right onto Roland, at the next light three blocks down veer to your left. 847 is about two hundred yards down on the right.
Look for an old bus stop / trolley stop on the left, the house is immediately across from that. The fire hydrant is right next to the sidewalk leading to the doorway.
City bus service does not run on weekends, so you can park there with your emergency flashers on and bring your instruments and stand onto the porch, then find legitimate parking just down the way. A quarter mile down is another traffic signal, you can do a left turn which is really a U-turn and come back up and find parking on the other side of the street a short walk away.
More info to come. 'Nuff for now.
Not a Kurt's Deckbuster by any means, but if you are coming, let us know so that we can feed you!
Jim
PS - Originally I said to PM, but there is only a limited amount of space on the board, so an email to jim@baltimorerunning.com may be better in terms of getting a headcount. More to come.

hmmm - I'm in Perry Hall, not long at all from the site. If my Circa arrives prior to 27-Sep, I will try and attend this.
My ability to go to stuff like this really depends on my wife's work schedule, but if she is off, I would have an easier time getting away for a few hours since it is local (and leaving her with the 3 kiddies:)), as opposed to being gone for an entire day for a non-local event.

Hello all, I'll be coming from Carroll County and plan on attending at least for a few hours.
