Is anyone going to this? Has anyone ever gone to this? I'm thinking about going this year. Something about 3-4 days of camping, jamming, and learning next to a river really strikes a chord (no pun intended) with me.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, it sounds good to me, too. Got a conflict this year, though. Dix Bruce and Doug Smith are the only two instructor names I recognize, but both are top-shelf musicians, IMO. Should be a great experience.

I was sent the link to this forum by someone who works with us at the camp. I am the director for the camp.

This will be the third year for the camp. Each year we have grown and evolved. The camp is more than just an instructional guitar camp. We also specialize in creativity. We encourage families to register with their children as well.

Joe Craven is our artistic director for the camp, one of the top multi-instrumentalist in the nation, Joe was with David Grisman Quintet for over 18 years. He is also regarded as one of the most inspiring music educators in the US as well. His workshops at Festivals as well as school appearances are highly sought after.

WE BELIEVE THAT:
- Anybody can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat and make music confidently with other people.

- We can help you to increase your musical skills and confidence whether you are just getting started or are an advanced player.

- There are many road maps to learning music such as listening, looking, imitating and/or translating music ideas written down. They all have value and serve in the quest.

- The goal is not a formula for music but more an agenda to celebrate what you already have inside you.

- No one path is better -- only different. We will provide these road maps - and others we'll encourage you to discover. This will keep you on your journey.

Sounds very nice. Stay on the forum and let us know next year with a little more advance notice, you may get more takers, I know I'm tied up then.

I'm not clear looking at the site and the resort's site what the accomodations are, as the resort seems to only have about 6 rooms. Is is camping only, or are there places to stay?

Just a suggestion on the site, I had to dig pretty deep to find out exactly where this was taking place.

The site is camping and RV sites. The camping is paid with registration but the RV's sites have to be reserved through the Resort. There are rooms off site though. There are some sites within the Camp area for some vans but not RV's.

The Cabins are reserved for the instructors.

You can contact me direct if you wish, bruce@americanriverfolk.org
Also for a good slide show of photos the my space page is better. We are in need of a web master as my step son has put the main site up and has little time between his collage classes and working full time at Best Buy on the Geek Squad.

Hi Bruce,

I'll be there. Looking forward to it. I'm very interested in the singing in tune part. I play mostly instrumental because I can't sing in tune!

I'll report back here on my experience when I'm done with the camp.

Mike
