Doug Young http://www.dougyoungguitar.com is something of an acoustic guitar renaissance person, with his pickup samples, his CD, "Laurel Mill," his Mel Bay DADGAD instructional book, and his articles for Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
Doug also hosts a round robin acoustic guitar showcase at Mission City Coffee Roasters http://www.missioncitysc.com in Santa Clara, CA on the first Sunday of each month, a concept he borrowed from Teja, by the way. On July 6 I will join Doug and ragtime/blues player Pete Madsen http://www.buzzyfrets.com for an evening of acoustic guitar fun. Naturally, I'll be playing slack key, but we're adding a little extra spice to the mix this time. Doug and I will be doing two duets, one Irish and one Hawaiian. We'll do "The South Wind" for our Irish selection, and "He Aloha No O Honolulu" for our Hawaiian piece.
We actually premiered these duets at Teja's Gerken's Bazaar Cafe acoustic showcase last week, and we had a lot of fun with them.
We start playing around 7 PM, if you're in the neighborhood, please join us.
