Wonder how long it will be (if ever) before this beauty really gets played? Not just the "careful keep it Untouched" collector's item handling, but real, daily use and love as a beautfully crafted tool.
Fun to imagine some descendant of JR who finds this in an attic and makes it his "player". :)

yum yum indeed.....
You gonna come out to LA for NAMM and "let" Taylor display it in their "booth"? I think it'd be really cool if they asked you to do that. I would also offer up my 754ce should Uncle Bob so require it's services. *hint, hint*;) .....I mean, I'll be there anyway......

It's a beauty, all right, and probably one of the most distinctive Taylors ever built. I can't wait to see more pictures.

Thanks, everyone! New pictures will follow shortly. The guitar is finished, but hasn't shipped yet. It's still "making the rounds" at the factory. Everyone that I've talked to at the factory is so proud of it. Even Bob!

"J.R." must just be the secret identity of . . . "Flame Daddy!"
I mean, really, Jared, there is obviously more than a little "tattoed-hippy-freak-Steve Zeppelin" in you, bro!!! (I can call you, "bro" right:roll: )

You're not trying to get me to publicly admit that I'm a really headbanger, are you? Oooops!
JR
Yes, let it be known that our mild-mannered J.R. is an enigma. He can't be categorized neatly when it comes to his musical tastes...
I think that is one of the very cool things about him :D

Jared definitely has some good taste in music. He likes some of the same stuff I do, so he's OK in my book. Anyone who likes Hard Rock and Metal can't be all that bad.
J.R....I'll headbang with you any day!

Very cool... J.R. you may have already done this but can you discuss what inspired this design?

Hi, Vito!! I can't take any credit for the design. Pete Davies Jr. already had this idea at TaylorStock. He showed me the layout and it blew me away. However, the finished product is a good bit different from the original design. The orange around the flames was Larry B.'s doing, which I think really made the design jump out.
The rest of the guitar was my idea. Solid black top was chosen to keep the costs down, believe it or not. I think it was the best choice, now. The transparent black back and sides were chosen because I've always loved the look of the black Doyle Dykes Limited and Kathy Mattea models, which used the same finish. I requested the red perfling to compliment the design, although Pete suggested the black/white/red/white binding, which really looks snazzy! The Florentine cutaway was selected to compliment the sharp edges of the flame. The original design didn't use a cutaway. The bloodwood TRC was also my idea, as it would provide flow of the design up into the headstock. Ebony tuner buttons were selected to complete the black look. Gold hardware was selected "just because". :) I'm thinking I may switch them to Chrome later, though.
I still haven't seen a picture of the back. The guitar should be coming home to papa next week!

That's incredible J.R. !!!
I love the flames.
You gave me an Idea, If my wife kills me it's all your fault.
I have a Harley that is custom painted, Shimmerin blue metallic with ghost flames. I think it would be awesome to have a matching guitar.
I wonder if they could do that, Hmmmm.

Hey Mike....all you have to do is de-ornament the H1 Hummer that you want to buy and you can spend the difference on a VERY cool custom guitar.
That's incredible. Can't wait to see the WHOLE thing!
