I realize that this may not effect most of you . But, for me it's devastating news. I'm gutted... I was so looking forward to this year's event. The list of performers was outstanding. John Doan, Don Alder, Antoine Dufour, Pino Forastiere and so on. The highlight was to have been Mason Williams who turns seventy this year while celebrating the 40th anniversary of one of the guitar worlds most wonderful tunes, his iconic Classical Gas. I was going to try and arrange a mini harp guitar gathering seeing as there would have been five or six of us there.
Just to bring this into perspective for some of you. If you attend the Walnut Grove Festival you will know that many of the players there have come from feeder competitions like the Canadian Guitar Festival. In fact no fewer then six CGF performers or top three competitors have gone on to finish in one of the top three spots at Kansas.
I feel so bad for Del, (the organizer) as he's tried so hard.
