Just had this gig fall into our laps: As part of The SASS! Trio (Kate Early, Susan Urban and myself), I'll be at Bill's Blues & More, 1029 Davis St., Evanston, IL on Sunday, May 4 from 7-9:30 p.m. (may start and end a tad later, but we're all outta there by 10). We'll do TWO complete 45-min. sets and will have a few new songs (originals and covers) you might not have heard before. Also, if you have a favorite you may have heard me or us do, now's a good time to request it. Cover is $10 (any of you here who show up, your first drink's on me). You'll get to hear three-part harmonies plus guitars, banjo(s), dulcimers, percussion and perhaps even kazoo. Bill's has an extensive beer and wine-by-the-glass list (and all the usual spirits), as well as BBQ delivered by Hecky's. The AGF's own UncleDizzy60 does an outstanding job running sound!

We'll have been well-warmed up by then because of the previous two gigs:
Fri. May 2, 8 pm--Bean Encounters, 859 S. Ridge Rd. (off I-80 just s.w. of the I-55/I-80 junction) Minooka, IL (no cover). Full light dinner menu with terrific wines, as well as coffees/teas/juices. Two full sets there, too! Reservations are a good idea, as they had to open the side room last time to hold the overflow.

And Sat. May 3, at 7:30 pm we'll be at the FREE Venus Envy festival (all genders welcome) at the Bucktown Center for the Arts in downtown Davenport, IA. Only one set, so you snooze, you lose.

See you in 2 weeks!!!

The day closely approaches. Only Hell or highwater will keep me away.

Well, Marshall, here in Davenport where we played tonight, the Mississippi is finally receding. (We'd have had to climb three flights of stairs were we to use the green room because the elevator shafts were still flooded four feet deep). So let's hope we don't see any guys with pitchforks strolling down the streets of Evanston tomorrow!

It was very nice seeing Sandy, Kate, and Susan last night. Their harmonies are lush and rich. It was a very nice show.

Thanks Sandy for doing, "Fog." I can see where that might not be a Minooka or a Davenport kinda song. But it sure works great in an urban setting. And you kicked butt on it. Thanks. (You might throw it into one of those rural shows as a counterpoint to the other Folk style material you guys present. Might be a nice change of pace.)

I also loved the new Long Island tune. (or is that Long Guy Land ?)
