View Full Version : Lake Houston Get-Together

Is anyone interested in a get together at Lake Houston this year?
If so we would need to pick a date and get things rolling before it gets hot outside. The hardest thing, is piking a date, so that the majority of people can addend. After that I can normally get things set up in a couple of days.
Also let me know if you want to stay with the same menu or if you want something else.

I'd love to attend, but it will depend on whether I'll have a gig that particular weekend...
I'm really, REALLY sorry that I missed last year's...I was really hoping that Jeffrey would be posting those pics of the get-together...

DonBob and I would love t be there, but like franchelB we'd have to time it vs a gig. As for the menu, I would not change a thing!

and who am I to argue with my pard. Guitarman, if we don't have a gig, we are so there.
Funny, I was thinking about that just the other day!
I'm game, if possible, let's shoot for after the weekend of the 19th at least - I'm pretty booked until then.

How much time do you need to prep and get ready?

The guitar show is here in Dallas on the 19th weekend...then I'll be in Killeen on THAT day. :(
Really, I don't mind if we end up playing on a hot, humid day...we'll just bring electric fans (people AND machines) and cans of "Off"!
The menu SHOULD stay the same!
And just an off topic thought: Kego, how 'bout putting an "opening band" for the get-together. You and the mrs. on the electric guitar and drums/percussion, me on the bass, etc.

Any date from say the 26th should be ok. It should only take me a few days to set everything up.
Post some dates that you guys will be available, and lets see if we can find the best date.
It was nice to see JR last year. He showed up at the very end after most of you had left. JR, Sorry you missed all of the food! The crawfish and Chicken went alot faster than previous years.

DonBob

yeah; May 10 is best for us. The only other possible for us would be the 31st.

I "kinda'" have something going on, on May 10th...BUT if that's what everyone decides on, I'll try to cancel my prior engagement.
May 31 or later would be best for me...

Anyone else gonna chime in? Guitarman, how do the dates work for you?

I'm open, so what ever works best for you guys.
Francis you were missed last year, sure hope you can make it this year.
I enjoyed meeting JR last year and I am hoping he can make it again this year.
Also has anyone heard from Jeffrey lately?

Also has anyone heard from Jeffrey lately?Jeffrey has disappeared off the face of the AGF, right after the lake Houston event last year. He never posted the pics I sent him, so I believe he decided to leave the AGF for some reason.

I think he's still around...although I don't think he'll be "showing up" on the AGF anytime soon...let alone at Lake Houston! He still has his "13 Muses" project, but they're looking for a bass player.
Kego, how 'bout putting an "opening band" for the get-together. You and the mrs. on the electric guitar and drums/percussion, me on the bass, etc.
Assuming we have the jam on a weekend where we're available I'd be happy to contribute to something like that - though I'd consider it open to anyone who was interested. I'm not nearly as much of a regular here as most of you folks are, so I certainly don't want to step on any toes!
I know the two or three events at the Lake I've been too there were PA's set up, but I've never once seen them used. Possible I got there too late for that, but for at least one of them I was there relatively early. So, maybe a "predetermined bandlet" is what's needed to get the ball rolling...lol
I'll be happy to leave that up to y'all. Good news is that I should be picking up a new acoustic at the Dallas guitar show (and I can't WAIT). I saw it at NAMM, but it wasn't quite finished then. There's a story behind it, but that will wait for the jam if anyone actually cares...lol

So, any more conversation on the date? We have May 10, and May 31 as possibilities. Any other thoughts (on this topic) ;) ?

Last year Steve and DonBob used the PA Sys To do several sets to get things rolling. But, " the more the merrier ".
Congrats on the new guitar! I'll be waiting to see and hear it.
Also if we need more pwr I can step things up with a Rack Mounted Amp and the Mixer I had there the year before last. My wife may want me to bring the keyboard anyway.
Steve both dates are fine with me.

This is my 4th attempt at making a post :hmm:...
Weatherwise, the 10th might be preferable to the 31st.

I have pretty much quit going to discussion forums due to the tendancy of people to bicker and get off topic WAYYY too often, but I have managed to lurk here once in a while waiting for this very thread to start.
Not being a huge contributor to this forum, I wouldn't want anyone to make or break the date based on my ability to attend. However, at the moment, I am free for any of the dates listed so far. I will not be available on June 7th, if April and May turn out not to be good for anyone. But, like I said, if the only time you can get most everyone together is on the 7th of June, then so be it, and I will again continue to lurk for the next one :)
My preference would be for May 10th as it likely to be a few degrees cooler than May 31st. Although, either date would be preferable to July or AUGUST
Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

May 10th is iffy for me, but any other Saturday in May works. I'm going to do everything I can to come to this.

It's nice to finally see some of the "old gang" chime in! ;)
As for me, I don't mind the hot weather (WE ARE IN TEXAS AFTER ALL!) but really, May is just so "around the corner"...I'd still like to see some more "old faces" chime in....

Glad to see Guitarman talking about another get together. Sigrid and I are tied up most of the day on May 10. We may be free the next two weekends. We'll probably be going to Kerrville for the festival the weekend of the 31st. I'll check back and see how the dates are coming together.

Hey Stetson! Its good to hear from you man. We missed you.
Thanks, Guitarman, I'm sorry we weren't able to make it last year. I'll keep checking back to see what date gets pinned down.
Take care,
Steve
Lrgo and I are booked on the 10th with an afternoon gig in downtown Houston.
So, the 31st is best for us. (That's not Memorial day weekend is it?)
