Although many of us stretched the old bank accounts at TS, I have a feeling that money played a part in the lack of Brazilian rosewood. That stuff is awfully expensive! :)

I think that's right, plus the interest in cocobolo, redwood, etc probably drew attention away from Braz.

BTW, did they have any Braz out on the tables?

Yeah they did. 2-3 sets if I remember correctly.

They had alot more than 2-3 sets ... at least a couple dozen.

There was at least one set of master grade Brazilian that would have made an incredible guitar. I think there's a shot of it in the TS video, and while it doesn't look as flashy as other sets, it had tight and fairly straight grain that you just don't see too often in Brazilian these days. Of course, that set alone probably cost more than my entire TS guitar at retail, but it's kinda like a Rolls-Royce -- if you gotta ask, you can't afford it! :)

For me it was like "OK, I can get ONE killer guitar with unbef-inglievable amazing wood or I can get TWO killer guitars both with really really really nice wood." I went for the latter. And am happy with that choice!

i have only played one brazillian, it was a custom 810 built in like 1996 and it was only OK. I would love the chance to play cocobolo to brazillian because i think cocobolo is just so amazing and i would like to hear something that could beat it. To anyone who has played both, what are your thoughts on the two tonewoods?

If I had ever planned to consider the Braz at TS, I gave it up by buying the PS14 in the same week's time...that kinda filled the BR square...and that guitar is prettier than the wood they had.....1997 vintage....it's only natural that quality/appearance of the Braz goes down as the years roll on....

I must comment on Tom's PS-14. That guitar is like a "cannon". It is very loud but has extremely clear note separation. It stood out among all the guitars at our Post Taylorstock function in FL. It did not matter who played it with widely varying playing styles, it projected like no other there. I am sure the age of the guitar has helped it to open up also. Tom, if you ever sell it, call me first... Please...

Although I don't think it will ever be for sale, Doug L. you have first right of refusal. (you read it here first folks)...... Whew, did we have fun in St. Augustine or what?!!!
