My TS 810E-LTD, that is, regardless of what DHL told me!

Love at first strum?

um, no.

Prettier than I thought it would be, but it's gonna take a little time for us to get used to each other.

Like with buddiesorg, I think that it still sounds too "new" to make any real judgement just yet.

Louder bass, yes, but "warmer" not really. I'm gonna A/B it against my 310-MCE (a 3-1/2 year old) later today.

Could be the Nanos, too. New strings sound funny, as Jeffrey said.

I'm gonna take some more detailed pics as the real physical beauty of this guitar is in the details.

More later!

Joe, That was my same first reaction. I don't know if the new strings are it but, time will tell the tale of the 810!

Joe,

I got mine on Friday morning and have been playing it a lot.

It still sounds tight, and likely will be for some time but it is moving in a good direction. I am optimistic.

The resonance has improved a lot in four days and the trebles are getting a bit smoother. It has started to get some decent chimey ringing sounds that were not there when I first played it.

It seems like it might take longer for the bass to come in more, just a guess.

Just my experience so far. Congrats, beautiful guitars are'nt they?

JG

P.S. I am not sure about the Nanos on my guitar either, but I am going to be a bit more patient.

That's so strange that a lot of people have said similar things about their 810 LTD's not sounding full or rich or sounding a bit thin.

I guess I got lucky. Mine sounded big and rich right out of the case. :)

Hey Joe,

It sure is gorgeous. I am sure it will open up in a very short time. The back is absolutely beautiful and the inlay is incredible. I am sure it was worth the wait. Good luck!

Thanks Mark, the back actually looks wonderful in person, those "black" marks in the center are very tight and dark grain structure and NOT just black marks as it appears in the photos.

It is definitely louder than my 310-MCE, but not yet nearly as "smooth." The trebles are still a bit "harsh" IMO.

I'm gonna give it time to open up, the topwood is extraordinary -- as with my 654, but quite different, too. I never really paid a whole lot of attention to sitka before. The tops on these two are making me sit up and take notice!

Congrats!!

I think mine sounded pretty good initially, but it has improved seemingly every day - might be the strings as many of you have mentioned.

Of course, I strummed my Ovation just for kicks last weekend, made a face, and then put it back into its case. Believe me, I'll never ever complain about the sound of my 810-LTD :)

Hey Joe I'm glad to hear that DHL didnt hose you on this one!

I'm sure that your guitar just needs some time, like everyone else has said...such is the case with sitka.

I'm thinking some of the difference with Jeffrey's has to do with the fact that his is redwood topped...

Anyway, I cant wait for some pictures, and welcome (officially) to the cocobolo club...refreshments are in the back!

Oh that's right. Good point Ryan. I don't know why I just assumed everyone went for the Redwood top. :)

Color me stupid (whatever color that may be). ;)

Duh! I Knew that!!! But I DID totally forget!!

Well I hope it opens up nicely, as I felt a little bit like I was taking a bit of a chance on getting a "killer" sitka top. (which I believe I did from the looks of it).

I've been avoiding sitka a bit what with my mahogany, western red cedar and walnut topped Taylors, but the 654CE sounds great right out of the box IMO.

I think I need to adjust a bit, too. We'll grow together!

Like I said, it's a dang purdy geetar!

Joe, for what it's worth, my 355 was very tight when it was brand new, but it showed some improvement within just a week or two. It's still got a ways to go (Sitka moseys toward maturity) but it sounds better now with just a few weeks of playing. Give your 810 time, and I'm sure it'll reward you.

I gotta say that an hour or two of playing it has made quite a difference -- for the better.

I also took her down into DADGAD to get some nice ringing open chords.

I told Tim Barwick at TS that I wasn't really keen on sitka topped dreads because they kinda look "like a slice of white bread." I am getting used to the look -- it is a classic look. And I love the Gothic Vine inlay!

As for the sound, you know how your eyes adjust to the light when you enter or leave a building. Also I think our ears adjust within a range to whatever we are listening to.

It's not an instant home run, but I think I am gonna like it.

Oh yeah, It's a LOUD guitar!!

Congratulations on the arrival of your guitar. It sure is pretty.
