Can't believe I am the first to respond. I think everyone had a great time. We had a great turnout, wonderful open mic performances, some great teaching, EVERYONE left with at least one door prize, many received two. I think there were 4 Taylorstock guitars plus the "Guitar that Love Built"...all were exquisite. I enjoyed meeting so many nice people...a highlight for me was hearing JW's song that he wrote for Mrs. JW. Really sweet. Holloways' were so generous and welcoming. I ended up buying a Big Baby there...and a soundseat from JR. It's like sitting on a marshmallow--so comfy! I think I will go practice a bit...Oh, and many thanks to Rick--he did a great job of organizing and MCing. Wish you all could have been there.:) :)

MY MY MY MY MY,

That wa the coolest forum gathering of any kind that I have ever been to. Holloways was super cool. I really enjoyed getting to know my "new" Taylor dealer. The forum members are truly one of a kind, I hate I missed Taylorstock, when is the next one again:roll: ?!

A special thanks goes out to:

Rick: Thanks for turning me onto the world of Taylor guitars. You have a friend for life Buddy

JW: wow o wow o wow. Its not true what people say about you, you are truly a wondeful guy to be around and such an inspiration to me. You too Mrs JW

Lauren: had a great time meeting you. Your new guitar is a beauty, I should have played it when I had the chance today, but maybe later.

Jennifer: hope your trip to Jacksonville is going well. I had a great time getting to know you. Your maple is one of the nicest looking guitars I have ever seen

JR: I'm hoping for a chair for Xmas. Those are the best chairs ever, and no he didnt pay me to say that.

I really enjoyed your songs--can't believe you have been playing such a short time. The Waterdeep song is one of my favorites--I just learned to play it last week. That's the one I would have played had I been "up" for it. Way to go!

I just got home too. It's 11:47 and I'm tired from the 2 hour drive, but I did have a great time. We got a lot of information and heard some GREAT playing. The Taylorstock guitars were so cool. I don't know which I liked the best, but I guess Rick Crider's was the most unique, but they are all nice.

I actually did the open mic thing. There were only about five or six of us that did. Then most of us went on to Buffalo's to hear Jeff Rearick. I think he knows every song ever written! Lot's of fun.

Oh yeah...I have to add that they had and awesome array of door prizes. Lots of genuine Taylor stuff, a couple TGF CD's. Everybody won something, so that was cool.

Well, I'm still not home. It's 2am and I just stopped at a hotel right on the edge of North Charleston. I think I have the longest commute. I won't get home until late next Tues. night. Yes, I said NEXT Tues. hehe I must be insane.

I had a blast. And I had a great time meeting all the new forum members and putting faces to names. When I'm awake I may post more on this, but I'm kind of tired. Go figure! :p

Ok, so I think I posted my own event comments in the wrong place, under General Discussion. Moderator, if you see fit to move it, please do so and accept my apologies. ;)

Yes--it was fantastic! I think I already said that but it's still true, so no shame in reiterating. Janice, I didn't know if you were getting one of JR's chairs or not, but good on ya! I wonder if anyone else took home a new guitar besides you? I put an order in, but my own guitar is several months down the road, I imagine....

Jeff Rearick was great, and even though I hear a lot of those songs on the radion every day at work (we have radios on the phones for background noise in the store), I actually enjoyed them last night. Jeff seems like someone who can just sing and play for hours, and his uncanny knack for sounding like different people--most notably James Taylor and John Fogerty--was great. And how neat was it he did a Cat Steven's song too? Jeff, if you're reading this, thanks for the Cat Stevens--it was great, and you picked a good song to boot. ;)

I wish I'd done the open mic, but maybe I can get over those inhibitions next time. Just didn't know if I was ready to sing and play in front of all those nice people, with the lights on me and the speakers and that elevated chair...............getting dizzy.... lol I hope to have another chance at that, but in the meantime everyone who did participate was great and it was plain to see there was a lot of heart in all of it.

Above all I loved the diversity of the group--in "real" life most of us would never meet. How do so many great people get attracted to the same thing?

SO WHERE ARE THE PICTURES!!

I guess Rick is slaving over cropping and rotating and color and level adjustments and tweaks and compression tests and HTML code . . . or he could be sleeping!!

NAH!
