Since i was not at Taylorstock, i would not mind purchasing
the video to see the mfg. and the lectures on wood selection
etc..... I would like to know what percentage of the running
time is dedicated to attendee performances, which i would have very little interest in , since i am not purchasing it as a concert video.

Thanks,
Rick

Well, I don't think the intent was to create a documentary on the birth of a Taylor, it's more of a home movie/vacation type video which is exactly what I expected and enjoyed thoroughly. A good portion of it is the forum member’s performances and I thought it was very cool to see and hear the people we are so familiar with on the forum. J.R. did an awesome job on it but if you’re looking for a documentary on the building of a Taylor Guitar then it may not be for you.

Well, yes the DVD is kind of a keepsake for the lucky few who went, but there is a tremendous amount of information on it.

Taylor's Liberty Tree DVD also has some interesting "building the guitar" sequences, but is mainly a PBS-style documentary on The Liberty Tree (tree) itself.

Both are wonderful, but neither has as its focus what you seem to be looking for.

The purpose of the video was originally a keepsake for people who attended the event. Taylor sent a VHS copy to everyone who was there. However, as the video was professionally filmed on DVCAM and many people wanted a lifetime keepsake, Taylor supplied me the master and allowed me to make it available to the forum. There was also quite a number of people who didn't attend the event, who expressed interest in the video to see what TaylorStock was all about.

Like Rick and Joe said, it's not a documentary on how Taylor Guitars are built or anything (though you do get to see quite a bit of that at the end... It IS a documentary on a great event that was held at Taylor, and there's really a lot of great stuff on there. It's very entertaining, and several people who have seen it at my house, who don't know anything about Taylor, found the video very enjoying.

As for the performances - The whole DVD is broken up into chapters, so you can hit the forward button and jump to the next chapter, and see only the stuff you're interested in.

To answer your question... probably 60% performances 40% coverage of the event. Don't forget the slideshows, also. Two full animated slideshows of the factory tour, a double-length slideshow on the TaylorStock guitars, and other slideshows of the event.

I think its a combo job....

- if you went, its an awesome upgrade from the VHS.

- if you didn't go this is a way to get the flavor and see some of the cute faces behind the TGF usernames.
