According to the website, I DO live close to it, but for the life of me can't figure out where it is. I've never even heard of the town. Hmmmmm....

3 chords and a capo? You’ll get along fine with the bluegrass pickers!

From Greenville, I-385 south to Exit 19 at hwy 14 then one mile to the flashing yellow light. Turn right, park anywhere.

From Laurens and points south, I-385 north to exit 16 at hwy 101, turn left, about a mile to Grey Court, turn right at the light, about 2 miles to the flashing yellow light, turn left, park anywhere.

The town is literally one block of old store front buildings right behind the old train station. The Music hall is right in there in the store fronts.

Pickin' starts around 7:00 on Fridays, closer to 6:00 on Saturdays and lessons start around 7:00 on Monday (bring your own instrument).

Drop by on Saturday night… Look me up. I’ll be there this week with my maple 12 string… Next week I’ll have my Liberty Tree back from the repair shop!

We'd love to see you!

I get up to Boone NC now and then. Been looking for a good get-together up there but no luck yet.

Hey, that's in driving distance from where I live! Greenville is only an hour from my place. I think I'll have to try to make it down there one weekend, I love to hear some "pickin' and a' singin'" :) If I can get the time off, I may even make it to one of the lessons on Monday nights. Thanks for sharing this info!

Question - Are drinks for sale there or should I bring my own cooler? (non-alcoholic drinks I mean, I read the site :) )

I'm not a bluegrass person but it sounds like a lot of fun, I might check it out sometime.

Admission is by a donation jar at the door. There is a refrigerator full of water and a variety of canned sodas. There’s a large coffee maker and many of the women bring baked goods (cookies, cakes, pies) and there’s a donation can by the food and drink.

Donations are by the honor system and nobody counts. A very relaxed atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. … as the song says “Y’all come!”

Michael, Just outside of Boone there is Todd NC. At the Todd general store on friday nights they have some killer jam sessions with some high callibre talent poking their heads in from time to time. Wayne Henderson "Henderson Guitars" the guy who built clapton a guitar, a book was published about it in the past couple of years.

Here are some links for you;

michael,that sounds like a lot of fun and i am just up the road about 20 minutes. will they let balding ,middle aged male beginners participate in their jams? i looked at your photos and i am nowhere near as cute as the kids and my playing won't carry the day either:) . anybody in particular to contact or do i just go in and make myself to home? i'll have to go down and check 'em out.

Look a little closer, there are plenty of old, bald guys there (sigh, myself included) and the experience range is beginner to expert, everyone welcome! Just come on in, open your case, tune up and play along!

If you can play G, C and D and can use a capo, you're good to go in a bluegrass jam! :)
