IS HERE!!!!! It's beautiful and I'm absolutely floored as to how it came out!

UPS didn't screw it up either - right on time as scheduled :)

I took some preliminary pics - sorry about the size of them - you can check them out here:

Not a bad start for your first Taylor! Now how are you going to top that when TAS strikes again.:)

Dude, that's a killer guitar. What a way to start. I'll bet it's a canon. Don't you love the maple binding? It's a great combination with the redwood top.

If I'm down in AZ over Christmas with my 814c, we'll have to get together and compare. I do believe that all the redwood came from the same tree, if I'm remembering Uncle Bob's comments correctly.

Congrats on that axe.

Very nice!!! I really like the flamed maple binding, and you chose a great redwood top. How does it sound? Is that the first redwood/coco dread that we've seen?

Congratulations, that combo looks great!! I'm wondering why I didn't pay more attention to the redwood.

Gulp! Man, no chance of that one drying out - everyone's going to be drooling over it! By the way, time to change your signature. :)

Thanks everyone! I guess I will need a ton of drool since it's so dry out here in AZ, so feel free to take up a collection....
(or maybe NOT ;) )

My first impressions are that I can really notice the warmth again of the redwood top. Since it's been awhile since we sat in the performance venue playing all those guitars, I don't remember if the others I played with the redwood sounded like this one. I definitely think it's a unique sounding Taylor - may be a combination of the new voicing, cocobolo and the redwood! I really will have a chance to spend some quality time with it this weekend (I hope). At first, BobT thought that it wouldn't work too well in the combination for the dread, but then he decided to have the thickness changed so I guess that's my main "custom" modification.

I will try and post pictures of the 454-LTD (my friend's guitar) in the next couple of weeks when he comes out here to pick it up. I haven't opened the box because I want him to see it 1st, and it's killing both of us :)

JR - let me know if you want me to send some other pictures directly to you or just post 'em and you'll pick the ones you want.

What a Beautiful Guitar !!!

For a first Taylor, you have to ecstatic.

Enjoy it, things like that come very rarely in life. Every once in awhile god bestows our hearts desire on us. Isn't it great when something turns out better than you even imagined.

Couldn't say it better myself, Mike.

I was able to play it for an extended time last night, and the more I play, the more I'm glad that I waited so long for a Taylor so that this could be my 1st one. Every note I play, it sounds better and better.

Hmm, didn't I have some other guitar lying around here somewhere?

Heartfelt thanks for the Taylor staff and the TGF!!

I am playing it as much as I can - work just takes too much time :(
Personally, I think it sounds fantastic, but I'm biased ;)

I also have to get my fingers back in shape - I hadn't played much for about a month secondary to vacation and anticipation of a new guitar :)

P.S. - I updated my site so that the pics aren't as huge...
