Walking through O'Hare Int'l Airport this evening, loaded down suitcase, briefcase and various wireless field analysis equipment (don't ask), when I call my wife to tell her I'm back in town. "That's nice, dear" she says on the phone. "I gotta go. I'm having coffee with the neighbor right now. Oh - by the way, that guy Steve from the guitar store called. Said he'd be there till 7-ish."

WOOOO-HOOOOO!!!

Gave him a call on the train out to remote parking.

"Hey Steve"

"Hey Gutch! I got this funky lookin' 814 hangin' out in my warehouse. You want I should send it to you?"

"Naw," I said. "Not unless you can get it to me by tomorrow..."

Guess what I'm doing tomorrow?!? Betcha can't guess! Give up? Do ya, huh? I ain't gettin' on no stinkin' airplane - I can tell you that!!!

Hope to have pics up by dinner tomorrow!!!

You know what it's like being on the road, Vito! I haven't time to pick my nose, let alone pick out an arrangement on the guitar. So I don't think I'm going to make it on this go 'round. Will definitely shoot for the next one, though.

Speaking of the CD, I like your stuff! Honestly, everything I've gotten in has some great qualities that make them all unique. This is going to be a fun one to put together!!!

IT'S H-E-E-E-E-E-R-R-E!!! It is one sweet looking, GREAT sounding guitar! The maple binding is stunning, the gloss headstock with Torch is everything I envisioned, and the back -- Oh my, the back!!! Words can't describe how wonderful the back looks! The V-Neck seems so comfortable in my hand, like it was form fitted. The top has more silk than a Japanese Kimono! This is one great instrument!

The tone is crisp with some tight low end, and I can tell it will open up nicely as it gets played. Everything I was expecting in this guitar and much more!

Pics coming later this afternoon. Looks like I'll do that paperwork on my desk a bit later -- The guitar is begging to be played!!

Okay, here's the link to pics...

Gutch's T-Stock 814 Page (http://www.twicebakedmusic.com/814/album.htm)

I apologize in advance for the lo-res of the shots. At the time I bought the camera 6 pixels was more than enough...

Enjoy,
Dave

Thanks everybody for the kind words. I can tell you it was well worth the wait on this guitar!

Frankly, I thought the most impressive thing was going to be the beauty of the back. It is. In fact, in my eyes it is still some of the most viually stunning wood I have seen. The pictures I posted don't even begin to do the guitar justice (First generation camera = Big time POS!). You can't see the grain on the gloss finished headstock and how it dances with the torch. You can't see how the colors in the abalone melt from brown to green to blue. The silking on the Sitka top flows across the wood from top to bottom. The Cocobolo back. Ooh, that Cocobolo back. Hmm hmm hmm.

What I find even more amazing is that the V-Neck is such a joy to play and the tone of the instrument is so sweet that I've spent very little time ogling the beauty and every spare moment playing it. It is truly everything I was expecting and more!!!

Sincere thanks to Uncle Bob, Uncle Ed and everyone at Taylor for making this gorgeous guitar so doggone playable, and SteveZeppelin for his patience toward the end. You're a good egg!!! Oh, and that knucklehead, J.R. - Just because...

I gotta play some more,
Dave

WOOT !!!

That's great Dave. I know how you are feeling about now, I am still on a high from picking up my guitar.

What a great guitar. It seems to me some great people got great guitars from Taylorstock.

A just reward for some of the nicest people I have ever met.
It could not be more deserved.

Enjoy the new baby Dave.

Gutch, congratulations!! That is a wonderful looking axe, I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks too! I really like the torch on the headstock that really sets a gorgeous appearance.
