Wondering if there is interest in a get-together in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Seems like there are regions that get to see each other quite a bit, and figured it would be cool if we could get something going. Maybe even create a little group.

Keep the thread alive...

I would love to meet some other AGF members and have a nice jam session! Can you imagine the GAS at that meeting! :D

Keep me posted. (And pick a warm place to play! I haven't warmed up in the last several days!) :)

I know a few acoustic pickers around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that would probably be interested and I might be able to make the trek up that way around late spring or early summer.

Sounds like maybe something could be put together in the next few months. Anyone have some location ideas/preferences?

Outside, during the summer by Lake Minnetonka would be nice for a large gathering of guitar players. Possibly Excelsior. They have a large city park on the lake with picnic areas etc. A little outdoor strumming, food, water and plenty of Sun...... (Dang do I miss the warmth already! :))

Just don't invite any of the Vikings.....

Now if a few Wild players showed up to jam.... That would make it perfect! :D

Hockey, Guitars, Food and the Lake,..... those are a few of my favorite things!

Are most of us in the Metro area? How many outstate people are there? I wouldn't mind a winter get together.... Bring guitars and humidifiers!

I am from out state. NE iowa. Anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours away depending on the location. I am game for a possible winter gathering. As far as humidifiers!!! Well lets just say I am picking up my new CA GX performer this weekend. It does not need no stinkin humidifier:D I can`t wait to get it. I was at the shop last week and played it. I just sold my treasured 05 814CE to buy this. IMO is better tone and love the plugged in sound and it just plain plays great and no babysitting because of weather issues. Now I have a good camping guitar too;)

Good evening folks. Given time constraints, I would enjoy meeting and playing with other forum folks in the Twin Cities.

How about a gathering at The Coffee Grounds? http://http://www.thecoffeegrounds.net/ I have been to the local coffee shop many times to play/listen to Bill Hammonds Open Mic and several groups/individual performers. The owners seem to be very welcoming to such groups as proposed in this thread.

Best wishes, Eric -

This sounds like a wonderful time. The Coffee Grounds is great- also ginko over on snelling is an option.

Excelsior park at the lake is a great spot- Jim over at Guitar Rodeo used to have his shop right there. great spot.

The Podium also has done open mics during the summer at a park in Roseville- I bet Patrick (Manager) and Jeff (Owner) might have a way to help organize a space for everyone.

that sounds great... when should we do it? perhaps sometime in January after the Holiday's have simmered down a bit?

Aaron; Just an idea: The Coffee Grounds hosts Bill Hammonds Open Mic every other Sunday (1st and 3rd Sunday of the Month) from 6:00-9:00ish. What if the gathering was a Sunday afternoon prior so that folks could sign up and do the Open Mic or even stay and listen? Something like 2:00-5:00pm? Possibly? We would need to confirm with Deb @ Coffee Grounds just in case.

In any case the idea of getting together is appealing. Cheers to the idea.

That would be cool. I would like to hear some of you play. Maybe I can learn a few things! It will be interesting to hear everyones styles and what guitars they play.

I will be out of town on the 1st Sun in Jan (6th), but the 20th would work...however, if it's best for others when I am out of town that's fine.

So, Anybody up for the 20th?....perhaps some one can contact The Coffee Grounds as well as Bill to see if that would work.

I think the Coffee Grounds thing would work really well. Also, I have been to Ginkos and that would be a fun place, but maybe crowded if we have the turnout it looks we will have. I haven't been in Coffee Grounds, but from pictures it looks like there may be more room. I look forward to hearing everyone soon!

aaron-you don't by chance know a Mark Johnson, do you? The last time I saw his setup, it looked very similar to yours.(A Petros D and a Tonesmith, 316D???)

I will have an opportunity to visit Deb @ The Common Grounds tommorrow-Thursday and check about a "AG Get-Together." Unless other suggestions rise, I will check reguarding the opportunity for a "Get Together and specifically the 1/20/08 or 2nd weekend in February '08.

I do...mark is one of my best friends from college... I bought a Petros and he had to have one...He bought a Tonesmith and I had to have one...it seems to go like that with us. We tend to have similar taste in gear. do you know him from Shamineau?

Eric- Keep us posted.

aaron-Yep, I was on staff there this summer. What a small world!

I suppose I should add something on-topic.
Eric- that sounds good, and yes, keep us posted!

Either of those two would work for me I think. Sounds like a great time! Bring a few guitars and a couple amps, we could have a nice get-together!

Keep us posted........ I'll keep checking here.

I'm watching this one. But don't think I'll be making the drive up. I've been to Minnie a bunch of times for guitar gatherings with Willyum Hammond and the old AG Mag group (now, Soundhole). In fact Bill was chatting about maybe throwing an event after the first of the year. Combining forces could be extra fun. (And if ChiliBill can make it it will be BIG TIME fun.)

But I'm pretty committed to Gatherings this coming year (Kentucky for this board and Iowa for The Soundhole). So, I better cool my tools.

But I'll be watching this thread. Minnie is a grat place. Some real talented fun people up there.

Has there been any contact made with a potential location for a get together yet? Just thought I would give this a BUMP to see if we can get something going. It is too cold to just sit around and play in my living room by myself. I need company! :D

This one slipped to the depths. I am sorry if I should resurrect it, but thought it would be nice to do so, since we had already done some brainstorming and the weather will be turning nice here in a month or so. That could open more options up.

Count me in. And the wife.

I think we need some kind of head count if we're going to book somewhere. I think indoors is a good idea, since rain is possible and all.

Most bars/coffee houses would probably jump at the opportunity to have us! Again, head count and approx date...maybe around a holiday, like Memorial day or july 4th...
