I’ve never been to the NAMM show and really want to go to the up coming one. I thought I’d like to go with some company. Who wants to go? And veteran NAMM goers, got any suggestions of what to do/ bring/ check out?

Get tickets. They are hard to find if you are not in the industry. I have a good friend that is getting me in this year. Let me know if you score some tickets ans we'll see if we can meet up.

Hey Steve! Maybe I'll see you there. Oh, wait, I saw you this year, too ... so I guess there's a good chance I'll bump into you next month. Where do you hang out mostly? Hall E?

Went last year...can't this year because I have to lead worship in Jackson, MS, that weekend. If you get in, check out Hall E, for sure. There's tons of cool stuff to be discovered down those escalators.
Oh, and...Hi Acoustic Guitar Forum :)

I would love to see a NAMM show, but I doubt there will be one near Miami. I suppose I should thank them for that. My GAS is bad enough already.

If someone was serious about starting a small company to become elgible, it wouldn't be real hard; Some of you already own enough guitars to claim as inventory for a small buisiness, lol.

I don't think that's me or Banpreso  but you are right about some people around here. :D

And if they don't own enough guitars, I'd be more than happy to sell them a few more :D
The Winter NAMM in Anaheim was great last year. Tim and I were pleased as punch to be able to spend time with a dozen of the greatest 'forum' luthiers while we were there. If it fit in our schedule, we'd definitely be there again this year!!!

If you see a Huss and Dalton CM Spruce over Maple with a cool Celtic rosette...definitely check it out. I played it a few weeks ago in their shop and it was awesome. It definitely did not have the stereotypical Maple sound. It is a great guitar. Please buy it! It will tempt me if it comes back to Virginia and I already have CM on order.

I've been attending for many years. If possible, try to go either Thurs. or Sun as Fri/ Sat. gets very congested. It can be very difficult to audition acoustics with all the noise and crowds. Hall "E" houses the boutique builders (Huss & Dalton, SCGC, Goodall, Collings, Bourgeois, etc.) as well as individual luthiers sharing a booth with Allied Lutherie (Bruce Sexauer, Eric Schoenberg & co). Martin & Larrivee are located across from each other in one of the larger halls (get there early if you want to hear anything). Taylor guitars is located on the second or third floor, I believe.
There are many opportunities for mini-concerts/ demos as well as after the show concerts, parties and get togethers. There's a handbook as well as daily publications featuring the daily events/ concerts as well as where to obtain free tickets from individual vendors.
Each year it seems a little more difficult to obtain a NAMM badge unless you join NAMM. In order to join, you must be able to produce proof of having a retail music business sales license, documentation of being a member of the media, or be a performance artist doing concert/ demos at the show. They really try to keep the general public out unless you're a family member or employee of a NAMM member.

If you are on good terms with the manager or owner of a music store and he doesn't plan to attend, he might be able to provide you with tickets. That is how I managed to attend one when it was held in Nashville.

While not as posh a main and upper floors, the basement is quieter, great for checking out the R Taylors, Breedloves, and Santa Cruz. +1 on Thu/Sun. Not sure which day(s) I'm going. Have fun!:D
