Seasonal Music from the Reverent to the Ridiculous

The holidays are a mixed bag and so is the Bittersweet Christmas Band! From Thanksgiving through December 25th, traditional artists Cooper, Nelson & Early join forces with songwriter and "wise" woman Susan Urban for a show that presents every possible perspective on the holiday season from the reverent to the ridiculous. Two to four-part harmonies and masterful instrumentation on guitar and six string banjo, plus hand drum and other percussion instruments, make the Bittersweet Christmas Band an act not to be missed!

These guys really are great--and not just because I know them. They've been guests on WFMT's prestigious "Folkstage" program (which almost NEVER features local artists) and have had their CD, "Dance in the Dark of the Year," made a Midnight Special Pick of the Week. No matter how you feel about this holiday season, they've got something for everybody!

And catch them next Sunday night Dec. 9, along with the SASS! Trio (as well as my backing vocal/dulcimer performance with troubadour Norm Siegel--our own Uncle Dizzy 60--and bassist/singer/songwriter extraordinaire Dean Milano; and legends Al Day and Ed Holstein) at a Second Sunday Concert Series benefit for Mather High School's arts programs at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox, Chicago, at 6:30 PM. Sugg. donation $15.

I was out of town again this last weekend. But I'm looking forward to next Sunday.
