I was at a Pat Kirtley workshop last night and he saw my Taylorstock shirt's front where we've got just the name of the forum. He mentioned he'd heard of us and asked about the Taylorstock thing. He said something to the effect of he'd heard about a big shindig at the factory.

I told him all about it. He was quite entertained by all I had to share. He further added that he had heard about Uncle Bob's interactions/activities there and he mentioned that Bob said he had a blast and "really got into it" as he said. I showed him how Bob was so enthused with his redwood top pieces, banging them together making clave-like sounds. We chatted a bit more about the event after that.

That night, he played "Rural Life". That song is the song that is played in the background during the opening sequence of the Taylorstock video! It was awesome hearing it live! We talked a little more about tunings and other guitar stuff. Fun guy to talk to. When I was leaving, I shook his hand and he said, "Hey, say 'hello' to the 'Taylor Guitar Forum' for me." Pretty cool, huh?!?:D

On a personal note: When he played that song, it reminded me of the video, which in turn reminded me of Taylorstock. It felt great! I bought his "Rural Life" CD. I'm listening to it right now and noticing that one of his other songs from this CD is on there as well, "Rhythm of the Road". When we were talking he did mention how he's given Taylor free use rights on all of his music. Awesome stuff, too. Lotsa DADGAD!!!:D

Cool post Mike. We saw Pat when he was here for a clinic. A really down to earth guy who seems to enjoy people. I liked his clinic a lot and he gives great pointers for playing as well as being very entertaining.

Glad you got to chat with him. His DADGAD stuff is very cool.

David (Moore) has a great story where Pat watched HIM perform! :)

Pat is a super guy. I hope he comes around my way again soon.

Now we all have to remember to where our Taylorstock tshirts whenever we see Pat. We'll make him shocked at how many of us there are. :p

I think it's very cool that Uncle Bob is telling his friends about how much fun he had with us. That really means a lot because it's real. He's not just appeasing us, but actually means it. Yeah!

Pat (and Dan Crary) are going to be here in San Diego next week. I'll be sure to wear my Taylorstock shirt for that. Mike, were you sportin' the black one or the blue one?

Steve,

I was wearing my blue one, it's the one I designed:p. Actually, I wore it because I had dark jeans on and the black would've clashed a bit.

Wear the blue one since he'll probably recognize it REAL fast!

I saw Pat today, Got a free set of strings and couple thumb picks to boot. All I can say is fantastic.

He said to say Hi to you Mike. He remembered exactly who you were.

Steve I wore the Black one just to confused him. Lol

too cool...hope he comes to FL...so far, all the clinicians I've seen are very Taylor-ish; high quality, down to earth and fun.....I'll be sure and wear my shirt, coordinated with my outfit, of course (Becki is the fashion police)

Cool! Although it looks like you can wear either TS shirt now, Steve.

Let's see if we can "pester" this guy on his clinic tour around the states! By pester I mean: happily go to his clinics wearing our TS shirts so he thinks we're everywhere(cause we really are!).:)

Love that "Rural Life" song!
