Greetings, everyone! The TaylorStock DVD is complete! (finally!) I'm very sorry that it took so long. I painstakingly took the audio apart and re-mastered it. Now, you can hear Bob at a normal level during the wood grading seminar without having to crank your TV all the way up. Then entire video sounds 100% better. But did I mention how good it looks? The DVD resolution is 720x480, twice that of a normal broadcast.

I've also assembled SEVEN animated slideshows from hundreds and hundreds of pictures that were submitted by forum members, as a bonus. These are set to a soundtrack of music by forum members as well. I think you'll really enjoy them. Also, there might be a hidden feature somewhere on the disc. ;)

The DVD should begin shipping Monday, barring any problems... I'm duplicating them one at a time, and each one takes well over an hour to create.

For more info or to place your pre-order, go here:

Please note: This DVD is recorded on a DVD-R disc. This disc will play properly on any computer DVD-ROM drive, and most any *recent model* set-top DVD player. However, some older DVD players are known to have problems playing DVD-R discs. Unfortunately, most DVD owners manuals do not specify whether or not they can play DVD-R discs. To further compound the problem, some DVD players will play certain brands of DVD-R discs, but not others. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. The DVD is being properly recorded and authored in standard DVD format. If it doesn't play in your home DVD player, please try your computer DVD-ROM drive.... Otherwise, it gives you a good excuse to upgrade your home DVD player. Your spouse will buy that one, right?

OK, I've ordered.

Where's my copy, how come it hasn't arrived yet, JR's no good, my copy is damaged, how come I'm not as good looking on the DVD as I was on the tape, how come Lisa and Cynthia sound so much better than I do?

(Just thought I'd get some of the complaints and comments out of the way.) :ha:

I think you'll really enjoy all the slideshows. The TaylorStock wood slideshow is 7 minutes long, and features lots and LOTS of pictures of the wood, people with their wood selections posing with Bob, the guitars in progress, and even some pictures of some of the finished guitars.

JR:

If you still have a short fall covering your expenses on this DVD project, let us forum members know, we'll come up with some more cash. No sense you taking the hit by not charging enough for the DVD:) . $21 is "almost too" reasonable.

Michael

ps "BigThanks" for your doing this DVD, I wish I could have made it to Taylorstock, but this is going to be the next best thing..

Rob, the upside is that you should have your guitar before the DVD.

And my order is in, too! I'm just hoping that JR had the foresight to include the SteveZeppelin Trio in there somewhere...

Thanks, everyone! So far we've had quite a few orders. The DVD's are in progress as we speak. I showed it to several people last night, and everyone was impressed. Even though I've stared at this video till I'm crosseyed, I really enjoyed another viewing on my TV last night. I found myself rather enjoying the slideshows and all the stuff that I said I never wanted to see again.... I guess because I was watching it to enjoy it, not analyze it.... kicking back on the sofa.

The video and audio quality is superior to the original VHS. All the footage is razor-sharp and I took full advantage of the headroom of DVD on the audio track. I paid special attention to the mastering of the open mic performances.

I'm also pleased to announce that the DVD-R has played fine on two different set-top DVD players and three different computer drives. This is very encouraging. I'm recording these at the slowest possible speed, which is said to increase compatibility.

Does anyone know if DVD-Rs will work in PS2s?

Engineer

The PS2 will play DVD-R (there is apparently quite the market for bootleg games on DVD-R) movies, but I've also heard that the PS2 can by finnicky as to which DVD-R discs it will read.

Generally, I think game systems like the PS2 are built with stronger, more precise hardware to deal with the inevitable dust, scratches, and fingerprints on discs better. I've seen discs (CDs) that should have been unplayable - tons of scratches, smudges, fingerprints, etc., play with no problem on game systems.

I can count! 1, 4, 8, 5, 16, 10! See!?!

BTW, I found the hidden menu!!! Simply pause the video during Steve314's Open Mic performance, then click 3 times on his moustache just under his left nostril, and Voila!

Once there, you'll find loads of pictures of JR in various stages of undress while listening to a rousing version of the Styx song, "Miss America" played on the concert accordian!

Way to go, bro - Even more value for your entertainment dollar!!!
