Anyone here know of any jams or guitar-playing-get-togethers?
I am looking at getting more involved in the music community here in St. Louis and would like suggestions for a place to start.
Thanks,
Chris

I was staying in Kirkwood last weekend to go to the Tommy Emmanuel concert. Wish this had been posted then, so we could have gotten in touch. Staying with my friends there is pretty much a constant jam.

I live in the St Louis area and have not heard of a get together since I've been here. Maybe we can get something going.

Phil,
I'd be interested in getting something together if we couldn't find something already established. What area doyou live in? I'm in the South City area. What kind of music do you play?

I live down to the south of you a bit. Play (not particularly well) mostly 60s and 70s rock and folk. Comes with my age. I have a friend who lives in Chesterfield who plays a lot of 70s ballad type stuff...might be able to get him interested, too. His son also plays a lot of electric blues.

I'm over in Edwardsville, IL. I'd be interested. I'm just an old folkie.

I enjoy 'playing' most anything although my preferences are more in the blues/folk/old time country styles. It's be cool to get a group together and get something going. I 'met' a guy on the UMGF who might be interested as well. We could change locations every so often since we seem to be all over the map.
What do y'all think about getting together and other logistics? How do we do this?

Give the Folk School a lookover.. they do some jams and stuff.
The Director is a friend , and a fine musician.

It's possible I could host an AGF St Louis get together sometime after the first of the year if there are any interested.

When I lived in the DC area I made it out to a couple of them and they were a lot of fun.

Flaggerphil: I'd be up for an AGF get together as well and might be able to help get plans together for it.

D28CW: I've heard good things about the Folk School, but as far as I know, you have to pay for each get together (which I understand why, being that it's part of their mission) but I'm looking for something a bit different than that.

I have been trying to figure out how to get something organized but at the moment I don't have the time or energy to organize/plan something consistant. But I have recently been told about a regular acoustic jam at The Focal Point in Maplewood on Thursday nights: www.thefocalpoint.org
I think I will give those a shot. Does anyone have any experience with The Focal Point or it's jams?

Let me know what y'all think.
Chris
