Well, fellow TS nerds, I got my TS guitar today..........yup, it's true.
I was definitely surprised by it's arrival today. It's funny, last night I finally settled down and accepted the fact that I probably wouldn't get it until the 20th or so. Then lo and behold, it's here the next morning.
First impressions: It's beautiful. They got it perfect. The "Cinnamon Sitka", as BT put it, has a lot of silking that really came out in the pics that I didn't see at the factory. I'm pretty certain that over time and exposure to light, it'll look very similar to cedar due to it's more "brown" coloring(this was my intent since they wouldn't let me use cedar for the top, too soft for a 12str). The RW set I chose REALLY came out beautiful. The colors jumped out more than I expected!
The neck is WAY thin!! I don't remember Taylor 12str's playing this well. I'm really taken by the playability. That's this guitar's strongest attribute(this week:D). Yeah, it's purty and all, but man, it really plays awesome, it's like butta!
I do have pictures. Who wants to host them? I've got some editing to do to them, but they're not that big, memory size-wise. I've got pictures of it with it's older brother. The MASM set is now complete! J.R., Jenn, or whoever, email me with where you want me to send them and I'll get them out tomorrow night.
One thing I don't understand(but REALLY like) is that my TS guitar's model designation is GA-CUST. If they were to ever make a 754ce, this would be it, for all intents and purposes! I ordered nothing special(except for florentine cutaway). Everything is 700 series standard fare(except 900 series RW). Those parentheses items are not big departures from stock either!
I just don't understand how you can have an all Imbuia GC and call it an 812ce(which came out GORGEOUS by the way!), then have a 754ce and call it a GA-CUST. Hey, I'm not complaining!!! I just think it's funny. I love the fact that Taylor considers mine a total custom, devoid of a model number!!!
Thanks again to everyone who made TS so special and so much fun, Gutch, Rob, J.R., David, Ian, Lisa, Cynthia, and lots of other people I got to hang out with and dream about what guitar to have built.
I'll post more later, it's calling me again!!
