My wife has every Wednesday off, so I figured no problem getting the guitar delivered at home. She had a horseback riding lesson at 9:30, but should be home and available from 11:00 until whenever. The folks at DHL are VERY prompt, and attempted to deliver the guitar at 9:36. D'oh! Nobody was home. I called DHL and they said they would deliver it tomorrow, or I could pick it up at their office. It turns out their office is only about 5 miles from my office. Guess which option I chose.

I went to DHL and the extremely nice people there had the box waiting for me up front. I signed for the shipment and opened it right there in the lobby. WOW WOW WOW! Even the woman at DHL gasped when she saw the guitar. It is simply beautiful.

I simply can not describe the top. It is silkier than I ever imagined. The top is just flawless. The grain is very consistent and tight. There is absolutely NO runout evident on this top. No matter what angle the light hits it, the top is a uniform color from side to side. Just amazing. The abalone around the top is incredible. Extremely variated and lovely. It just dazzles in the light. The rosette is the same. The guitar and neck are bound with flamey koa. The koa is very pretty, and quite flamey in spots, but I've seen more flame on other binding material. It's gorgeous, so I'm NOT complaining. The sound hole is also bound with koa. I was not expecting this, and it's really quite nice. Also, the overlay on the bottom of the heel is also koa. Again, a very nice touch and very pretty.

The Cindy inlay in the neck is as pretty as you would expect. The inlays have huge areas of pink in them, and also some pretty blues and greens. The headstock overlay matches the ziricote back and sides, abd add a lot to the guitar. I am SO happy I decided to get a ziricote headstock overlay; it really completes the look IMHO.

The back and sides are breath taking. Ziricote is such a cool looking wood. The red purfling add a nice contrast and the whole package is just incredible visually.

I forgot that the 2000 spec 900 series had gold tuning buttons. I prefer the ebony, so it looks like a side shopping trip to FQMS is in order.

I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED I'M THRILLED!!!!!!!

Tonight, if I can stop playing ti long enough I'll take some photos

Can't we make a rule that you can't brag about your guitar without posting pictures!

Congrats, David!!! I was worried that the Ziricote headstock overly wouldn't look right on the small headstock because of the wide figuring. I must be wrong. What kind of TRC does the guitar have? Maple? Koa?

Let's see some pics!!!

David,

Congratulations, man! sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime guitar! With your talent, you deserve every ounce of that puppy -- And then some!!!

I hereby give you a one week reprieve on the CD deadline if you want to record with your new guitar! This goes for everyone else that got a T-Stock custom job! I've got an idea for the CD cover that I want to play with (See the post in the General Discussion section)....

ARGHH!!

I took photos last night AND recorded a quick song and converted to mp3. I tried to send the photos and mp3 to Jenn, but I'm on a dialup connection. The photos and mp3 clip total about 7 megs. I decided I would send them from work this morning, then walked out without the memory card.

I hope tomorrow is not too late (he says sheepishly)

Forgot to mention...... I'm happily playing my new guitar last night when I suddenly realized that the instrument came strung with nanowebs and not polywebs. I'm not a big polyweb fan, but I do like the nanowebs quite a bit. Has anyone else received a guitar with nanowebs instead of polywebs? Has Taylor changed to nanos or are they just reading my mind?

They switched last year ... I think in the summer ... I hate Nanowebs ...

David, I believe they switched to Nanos last year. My 714 had Polys when I got it (and I prefer them on that guitar) but it was NOS from 1999.

Interesting note: My 355 came with Nanos except for the low A string, which is obviously a Poly. It's a very small deal, but surprising nonetheless.

Wow, they switched last summer....... Hmmmm, just how plugged in am I?
