How did you guys find out when your TS guitar was shipping?
I've seen some people say that Ed Alves sent them an email, others have said that their dealer has called them. Or was it something else...........?
I'm dying over here. My guitar's only "specialty" was that it was a 12str GA, standard 700 series appointments. Then I see J.R.'s guitar shipped and good to go. That thing has more fancy doo-dads and special bindings and all that jazz than all of my Taylors put together! Don't forget all the guitars with all the Cindy inlays in the hands of their respective owners!
Honestly, I thought that my guitar was going to be one of the first guitars to ship due to it's cosmetic simplicity and lack of custom options and deviations from standard. I just want to know what's going on! That's all. Tbondo, I KNOW you're with me on this one!
When I worked at the store, I called Ed all the time, we were buds, we still are. We have a lot of history/people in common, strangely enough. Since I haven't been at the store, I haven't called him really at all since I no longer have any questions about options for customers of mine. I'm really trying my hardest not to call him anymore because I always felt like I'm interrupting something. I mean he IS the National Sales Manager, after all.
AAAAARRRRRGGHHGG!!!! Pacing isn't the word here.
Honestly, with all the bad stuff in the world, this is actually something good to worry about. It's fun worrying and pacing and stressing over such an awesome instrument. It's like the excitement you get collecting all the candy while trick-or-treating knowing how you're just absolutely going to dive into it when you get home! (uh, when you were a kid, I mean..........yeah that's it):)

Well, mine ain't shipping for awhile ... at least a couple weeks ... not even scheduled to finish until next week ... didn't you want a Florentine cutaway? That could be the reason why. It seems they did them in groups ... ie all the ready to use cocobolo ... all the ziricote ... all the Cindy's ... all the ones with necks chosen at TaylorStock ... etc.

It seems my powers of pre-cognition ran out after the first three guitars.
My dealer called me to let me know. I didn't call him asking if he had heard anything, but it was very difficult not to call and pester. I figure the folks at Taylor are working hard and ALL of the guitars are scheduled to be finished in another 8 days. The longest anyone should have to wait is another couple of weeks (depending on shipping time).
Since you have a history with Ed it may not be out of the question for you to call. Of course, you're the only one who can decide if a call to Ed is appropriate. Given that you know you'll have your guitar in a couple of weeks it may be better to just wait. The folks at Taylor realize how important these instruments are to each of us, and I'm sure they're doing everything they can to make sure each one is as perfect as possible. It will definitely be worth the wait.
Like Mary said, I'll bet yours isn't finished yet due to the florentine cutaway. How many others ordered a florentine cutaway? I'll bet yours is the only one, which probably moved it to the back of the production que. The plus side is your instrument is the ONLY florentine cutaway Taylorstock 2002 model that will EVER be produced. Not many folks can say their guitar is truly a one of a kind.

Steve called me and said "Hey man, you gotta come and get this guitar out of my way." Of course, he was only serious about the guitar being delivered, and couldn't have been nicer about the whole deal.
BTW, as I remember it, the guitars were scheduled to start production on 9/9, one week after Labor Day, with the 300s and 400s first. Since there weren't that many satin models in the chute, I figured mine would be among the first started, but according to the serial number, it wasn't started until 9/17. No big deal, just FYI.

Mike A - Steve called me yesterday and said mine was ready to be delivered. I was suppose to get it today, but the DHL screwed up and it won't be delivered until tomorrow.

Ed has asked that people not call him to check on their guitars. He's got a sales department to run and is very busy. But I know he's on top of the forum guitars, and has told us that the goal was to have them all finished before the 18th*. To my knowledge, this time-frame hasn't changed. I know it's hard, but be patient.
*The only exceptions that I know of might be my custom flame guitar, as it is a full-custom job with all sorts of inlay, weird finish techniques, etc. Similarly, Mike Carter's guitar might be held up due to the relative complexity of the inlay. This is pure speculation, though. Ed hasn't indicated that any of the guitars will take longer.

I voted that my dealer called me but actually I just happened to call my dealer a few hours after it arrived (call me Ms Cleo 2). BB originally told me 10/18 but after seeing my TS guitar in the video I suspected it would be sooner.
I got a call from the tree-top-flyer :D

I think you should add:
"A bunch of conceided Taylorstock owners
kept posting threads about my Taylorstock
guitar until I dreamed it was falling from ther heavens
with white wings on it and a sign that said
From G-D to you!"
to the poll choices.

Ehh, I don't think I'll call Ed. Like I said, we use to chat often, but not so much recently since I'm not at the store anymore. On another thread, I "hinted" to Ed(since I know he either reads the TGF or gets told about certain posts) that he should have the guys down there "mess up" my guitar so as to pick out a 900 series 3pc back(to match the original MASM and it's story!). I mean, the 2pc back I chose was nice and all, straight grain and good purple/brown content, every bit a 900 series piece. But since I'm paying so much attention to making it identical to the MASM, only it's a 12str, that's the only detail I left out. Maybe it's taking so long because that's what he did!!!
David- It'll also be special because I'm pretty sure it'll be the only 700 series GA 12str they'll make. Yeah, there was that one on the prototype wall, but it wasn't a CE model and it was just a prototype, and we all know what happens to those;). If you ask me, though, there are a lot of one-of-a-kind's coming out of Taylor for us.
If there's one thing we've proven with all this TS guitar stuff, it's that Taylor's custom shop is alive and well!!! After us and the crazy combos we came up with, it only gets easier for them from here on out!
