This Friday through Sunday, Sep. 14-16, is the annual Lilfest, coordinated by impresaria Nancy Jones Emrich. This year there'll be 2 locations: Bill's Blues in Evanston (sound run by the AGF's own Uncle Dizzy60) each night, and the original location--home of the Lilfest House Concerts--at 711 Lake St. in Wilmette (alternating indoor stages plus outdoor unplugged jamming). I'll be running sound indoors in Wilmette Sat. and Sun., performing Sat. 5-5:30 and emceeing Sun. aft. (including for Michael Smith and Mark Dvorak). There are open mic slots still available for both days. $20 a day gets you all you can hear, play, eat and drink (soft drinks, BYOB alcohol, potluck food) at Wilmette, and a weekend music pass is $35.
This is for the benefit of CAPE--Chicago Arts Partnership with Education--putting artists together with the public schools. Kids--even in these days of budget cuts--experience the joys of arts and music, and artists get to pass along their skills and self-expression.
