Where were you ? What were you doing ? With whom were you doing it with ? What were you doing with whom you were doing it with ? Where were you doing what you were doing with whom you were doing it with ? And oh yeah...How come you got to order 3 guitars when we all were told only 2 ? And the real question is why did you order 3 810's ??????? Why not something different ? IAN ? IAN ?

Let me answer this one for Ian, because clearly he feels a bit uncomfortable about these questions. Ian is a super-humble and generous guy, and I've had the pleasure to speak with him on the phone a few times. At TaylorStock, Ian picked out two guitars like everyone else. At the end of the day (around 10:30pm or so), I finally got a chance to select some wood and talk with Bob about it. As I was waiting, Ian was admiring the flamed mahogany set of wood that I had chosen (that had somehow sat there unnoticed the whole day). We also talked about the twin set of mahogany that was still available. He decided that he wanted to look into getting a custom guitar built out of it - never expecting it to be a TaylorStock guitar. As a matter of fact, Ian didn't finalize the details with Taylor until a few weeks after TaylorStock was over. Taylor apparently decided to classify the guitar as a TaylorStock guitar, I guess because Ian identified that specific set of wood while he was there.

Similarly, I ordered two TaylorStock guitars initially, also. However, over the next few weeks, I worked with Pete Davies Jr. to finalize a design on a separate custom-shop guitar. When I finally placed the order, Taylor classified the guitar as a TaylorStock guitar, probably since I was working with Pete on a design while I was there. I thought that was pretty cool of them. Remember, some people only ordered one guitar, so it all pans out. Taylor has been very cool and very generous about this whole thing.

You might be interested to know that the first draft of the "TaylorStock guitar rules" stated that it was limited to one guitar per person. I had a chat with both Jonathan and Ed about it, and expressed my feelings on the matter. They had a chat with Bob, and they decided to allow more... (Now if you asked them today, they'd probably tell you they'd like to beat me over the head with a guitar for doing that! hehehehe! )

So J.R., does this mean that you and Ian will be sharing that third guitar with all of us that only got one? hehehehe. Hey, sounds like a plan to me :)

Seriously, Ian is a nice guy, I'm glad he was able to do that and am thrilled you are both getting the guitars of your dreams.

Thanks J.R. for your reply on my behave, that’s kind of you! I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to significantly add to a already wonderful collection, and eagerly await the new family additions. Most of you know I have a matching set of 25th Anniversaries, and outside of gentle play, they don't see much use. I wanted a special mahogany dreadnought I could "dig into" and not worry about wear and tear (unlike the 25th DR which frankly IMO was the best one in my collection for my playing style) Up till now, my favorite tonewood has been mahogany. A heartfelt special thanks to the folks at Taylor for allowing this to guitar to be join Taylorstock fold! :)

I second that emotion! (Thanks, Smokey!)

Ian and I met briefly during TaylorStock. He seemed like a nice enough Canuck, friendly and all - eh? His true colors came shining through (Thanks, Cindy!) when I sold my LKSM to make room for the T-Stock guitar. Knowing I was now sans guitar, He dropped me a line asking if I would like to borrow one of his! I was immediately taken aback by his generosity, especially since we had only met once and he really didn't know me from Adam! Well, I thanked him for his kindness but declined the offer.

Ian wrote me again a couple weeks ago. He was curious how I was holding out without an axe. I told him the shakes were finally under control, and my free time was being used to fill the holes I'd made pounding my head against wall waiting for my guitar. He told me he was having something sent to me that would help me with my problems. I was thinking he was sending a bucket of Spackling Compound and a putty knife. Instead, it was a beautiful 810wmb!!!

I tell you -- Having someone like Ian on this forum is what makes this place so special. Thank you, Ian -- I'm anxiously awaiting the opportunity to repay this wonderful favor to you!

Ummmmm... Actually... I need just repay you for the guitar. You see, my kids were jumping on the case while I was work today and, well, it's now an 810 wms (With more splinters...) :(

Sorry I've been out of touch for a very long while. After the having most of the month of August off, it left me with a significant workload at work and had to commit extra time to see the projects through. At best during the past month I would have ten minutes a couple times a week to read through some of the threads.

Lastly as some as you know, over two years ago I started I started a quest to educate myself on the values of used Taylor’s saving all eBay auctions on my hard drive, yes I do this for a half-hour each and every day. This has also allowed me to learn all of the different models including LTD's that have been made from the beginning. So between work and eBay there's been no time. :( Playing time?? Hahaha.... whats that?

Speaking of eBay auctions, should anyone need pricing on any Taylor Models, please feel free to use me as a pricing resource, off line of course. Maybe I should burn the auctions on a CD and sell them on eBay. Mmmmmmm.... Jeez they buy anything there, including what’s free from Taylor..... neck videos, catalogues, wood and steel etc.

Why would I get three 810's? Simple.......... two Cocobolos with different neck widths (one for flat, the other for finger picking) and the other with different tonewood.

I have missed the daily dosage of all the great friends I have found here, and hope I would not go for soooo long again. Thanks to all for your kind comments.

:) Bones

Cynbrand, I certainly missed you too. Ah, what great pipes you have! Any word on your guitar?

Joe thanks very much. In catching up with Taylorstock did you ever get any pics or shipping news? BTW Tim Barwick got family in the Business maybe he can get you some coasters and warranty cards :ha:

If I am what do I win? You guys will only start calling me “Thick as a Brick” again, won’t you?

Ron, the feeling is mutual, you gave me some memorable laughs at Taylostock. I was great to meet you and your wonderful family. Happy for my TAS? You should be sorry for my TAS, it’s a run away disease! I’ve tried 12 step groups, and nothing. Sorry to hear you’ve got it too. Hay wait a minute did you pass the bug to me??

BTW as a young fella I was sound guy/guitar tech for an aspiring band. I learned the basics of setup and minor repair. After the band dissolved I worked at my friends music shop setting up guitars, re-fretting, minor construction work, mostly electric’s back them. I had the opportunity to study for a month at the Canadian Gibson warranty department, free of charge. I was tutored on everything from neck resets, finish work, use of tools and techniques on acoustics. I have very fond memories of those times and sometimes wonder what it would be like going back to this in some way. I live vicariously through your passions about taking this career path up. I sincerely wish you every success possible in making this a reality. BTW you do hang with good company too, don’t you?

Lastly…… marry you? You’ve got GAS buster, get Beano will ya. On second though, how many Taylors do you have...........!
