Does anyone have any info on attending one of these guitar shows and if you can get better deals on guitar purchases by attending and negotiating on the spot?

Most shows like this are open to the public, for an admission fee of course.
I assume you are talking about the Arlington show that is coming up?

There are good deals to be had, and some not so good deals. You will have to spend the time looking at the guitars and seeing what is available and what they are wanting for it. Some times you can find an individual there looking to sell themselves and pick up a good deal that way. Or catch one of the display dealers looking to make some quick cash before they drive home .
Sunday afternoon is the best time for this, but by then a lot of the "good stuff" will be gone already.

I went to the Arlington show year before last. Very big show, wore me out. Guitars, amps etc. New and used: Joe blow with a few items to sell to the major labels. It was not too crowded so you could talk to the reps at the booths.

Ricks is right on about the deals -- some good, some not so good. One thing about the Arlington show -- it's tough and I mean very tough to hear acoustics. Even in the side room, it's darn near impossible.

Still a fun show.

Arlington is a great show at a very nice venue (Arlington Convention Ctr). There are guitars beyond belief there! As far as a good deal goes-It depends on how negotiable a dealer might be. I agree that late Sunday afternoon would be the best time to make your move. Just remember, the dealers don't travel such a great distance for altruistic reasons. They come to sell and make a profit. Even if you don't score a guitar, you'll have a great time at the show.

We had one of these in Chicago today (and tomorrow).
