Just to let you know, I haven't forgotten about the DVD. One of the reasons I haven't been around here much is that I've been spending every spare minute working on putting together the DVD of TaylorStock. This has been an extremely time consuming and brain-stretching exercise. I have learned much more than I ever expected over the last few weeks about DVD authoring, including all the finite details about MPEG-2 encoding... Creating a DVD is not for the faint of heart. To do it right, there is TON of stuff you need to understand. I've also learned a great deal about video editing, and have attempted to create slideshows of the event that everyone would enjoy.

The TaylorStock DVD-R will include:
- TaylorStock highlights at full DVD resolution (twice the resolution of the video tape)
- Remastered audio track (It is much easier to hear Bob Taylor during the wood grading seminar, etc.)
- Audio track in Dolby Digital stereo
DVD Bonus stuff includes:
- Several slideshows of the event at full DVD resolution, featuring photos taken by attendees and music by forum members.

Here is a low-res version of one of the slideshows: (Windows media player required)

I hope to complete the DVD this week and make it available shortly thereafter. Many thanks to Gutch for the great technical advice on the video. He's a wealth of information on this stuff!

Comments? Questions?

Very well done! Nice flow, good interplay with the music (Thanks, Rick!), and I love the animation of the logo!!!

You got a future in this biz!!!

I'm on board for this. Do you have an idea of the donation you'll need to cover costs?

I'll put up an order page as soon as I have a definitive completion date. I hadn't thought about numbering them... I guess I could.

I'm putting the DVD at $20ea. Gutch will attest to the fact that I've invested far more into this project than I'll ever recover from the sales. (We did the math over the phone and I got depressed... We shouldn't have done that! hehe!) But, no matter... It was a really fun project and, like the forum, I rather enjoy it.

Whoa JR, you are a PRO!

If you don't do this stuff for a living, you should!! I managed a graphic arts studio for 15 years and I know good stuff when I see it! And that is a first class job! Love the TGF logo animation, very classy!

BTW, WMV works just fine on Macs under OSX!:)

Thanks, Joe! I really appreciate the kind words. I hope that you'll be equally impressed with the final product. It's been a real learning experience for me.

Ryan, thanks for the picture that I used on the intro! It really was a nice background for the logo animation. I also used several of your pictures on one of the slideshows, and I'm thinking about one last slideshow with all the TaylorStock wood, etc. You've got all the great photos of people with their wood selections.

Meridian, I also used your photos on a special slideshow that shows some highlights of the event.

I wonder how many of those shots are mine. I took a lot of photos from Ryan's camera since it was so much nicer than mine. But I'm sure Ryan will get all the credit again. He likes the spotlight. ;)

JR, OUTSTANDING JOB! I'll take one too, I can't wait. Would there be room to put the Taylorstock Forum treads on it for our computers as well? "Cause some day you will delete it.

Thanks, jcor! It was really fun to assemble all those photos from the hundreds of pictures that forum members took. There are many great slidshows on the DVD, including some wonderful stills from the open-mic night - definitely my favorite of the slideshows.

The TaylorStock wood slideshow is 7 minutes long, and features lots and LOTS of pictures of the wood, people with their wood selections posing with Bob, the guitars in progress, and even some pictures of some of the finished guitars.
