Fox Valley Folk Festival CANCELLED!

Sad to report, but the organizers of the Fox Valley Folk Festival have reluctantly decided to cancel the festival. Island Park (an islet in the Fox River) is completely awash--as of yesterday the waters are up to the third step of the brick Pavilion and still rising. There was talk about using the Kane County Gov't Center, but its grounds are sodden, there is not enough parking to satisfy the police dep't., and it's too small to prevent sound bleed between the stages.

Not sure of the status of Walnut Valley.

Lilfest in Wilmette and Evanston is set for Sep. 15-17. Norm (UncleDizzy60) and I will be pushing the faders at both stages to make you sound good if you want to do the open mic. I'll let Norm handle that announcement.

Keep your schedules open for Aug. 30-Sep. 1, 2008---meanwhile see you at FARM in high & dry Techny, IL (near Chicago, on a hill) Sep. 28-30 this year!

You were coming up to Wisconsin? :O I'm from Green Bay. Darn, it would have been neat to see someone up here. I'm looking for some local inspiration. :P

Nope. Wrong Fox River--though this one originates near Waukesha, WI and joins the Illinois River s. of Joliet. The Fox River of which you speak has Lake Winnebago as its source. (For the longest time, I too thought there was only one "Fox River" that ran from south of Joliet up to Oshkosh)!

However, if you don't mind driving down to Sheboygan on Fri. Oct. 19, I'm playing at the Paragon.

Any acoustic venue suggestions in the Fox Cities would be gratefully appreciated!
