Remember the old National Lampoon cover with that headline? They never intended to shoot the dog, who lived to, no doubt, "irrigate" his master's copy of that issue (and justly so). But it sure sold magazines.

So, COME TO THIS HOUSE CONCERT OR THEY'LL KILL OFF THE SERIES!!!!!!!

I'm not kidding. The SASS! Trio was scheduled as this month's Purcell House Concert in Mundelein, IL this coming Sat. 7/28 at 8 pm. But we got an e-mail from the hostess that she has gotten no RSVPs except for regrets, and that if nobody makes a reservation by tomorrow morning, not only is the concert kaput but they will terminate the entire house concert series. Susan claims it's because nobody wants to come to an indoor show in summer (and I say that contrary to what she thinks, a lot of potential audience members will be down in Bridgeview at the Crossroads Guitar Festival); but the hostess claims all her concerts have been in summertime and attendance in general has been dropping.

So those of you who got shut out of Crossroads tickets (like me, who had planned to attend during the day but couldn't get through the server traffic jam), please let me know PRONTO! Or contact the hostess at 847-949-0472 or cpwizwords@comcast.net for reservations. But do it tonight!!!!!

I wish I could make it Sandy, but it would be a pretty long drive! Best of luck to you; I hope you get an audience and save the series.

Darn. I've got another commitment for the evening. (I'm beginning to sound like a broken record).

Well, they got five RSVPs, but the hosts deemed that inadequate (even though the audience would finally have outnumbered us), especialliy in light of the fact they must attend a funeral in the afternoon. So the concert is off--the fate of the series is undecided, and we may be rescheduled for sometime this winter. As fate would have it, a new block of Crossroads Guitar Festival tix will be released at 4pm today. (What to do about that will be the subject of another thread over on the "Performing, Recording" section).
