Check out that satinwood 514CE!!!! Also, looks like a 414CE in progress... Taylorsmitten? Cynbrad? :)

OMYGOODNESS, is that (2) 414's side by side?
*squealing like a girl* I think it is :)

Hehe, you posted that J.R. while I was squealing. I can't tell if the one on the left is a 414 (has the plain rosette) but the second one over definitely look like it is.
WOW, somebody is getting some pretty guitars soon :)

Those guitars are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for passing the pictures along, J.R., even if there isn't a 355c-LTD among them. :)

That satinwood is amazing, and I'm a little sorry I didn't see it earlier on wood-choosing day, 'cause I'm thinking it would make a great 12-string. I'm not complaining, just wondering.

OH OH OH OH!!!! The first two photos are my guitar!!! The first picture is the top piece for my 912 (noc or e) and the second photo is the back.

OMG, the abalone inlay on the top is STUNNING. They really chose some exceptional abalone for that guitar. And the silking on the top......... I tried to pick the heaviest silked piece of englemann I could find. I can't believe how much the silk comes out in the photo.

The satinwood guitar is amazing, simply amazing, and the top on the redwood 914c is exceptional. Again, even in the photo you can see the silk.

THIS ISN'T HELPING ME STAY CALM WHILE I WAIT:roll:

Thanks for the update, I can not wait to get my greedy little hands on that guitar.

All you lucky dogs!!! What a treat!!!! Those are KILLER!

Can't help but wonder where the gorgeous COCOBOLO photos are. Hey, maybe they're saving the really *knock-out* stuff for a grand finale.

Seriously....we've all got some things to really be proud of coming out of this. Proof is in the .....er....uh....photos.

David, I think that's one of Trombone's guitars. It says tbone under where the neck goes. Also, it has red perfling and that wood doesn't look like yours. Sorrrrryyyy.... :(

I hope my satin finished satinwood 314c looks half as good as Trombones. What a great looking guitar!

Thanks for the update JR (sigh).

I'm so happy for Sandy (trombone) and Diane (Veteran13) (actually that's true) as they get to see all FOUR of their guitars in progress!

I guess JR's scout couln't make it into the secret lab in the sub-basement where they are gonna built my and Tom's (tbondo) guitars (deep sigh!)

Hey! Tommy! I figured it out! Bob T told his crew to PRACTICE ON Tim Barwick's guitar because of that "de-ornamentation" remark!

YEAH, that's it! They are PRACTICING on all those other guitars first before they make the REALLY good ones!! WoooooHooooo!!!!!

:(
sigh, pout, lower lip out, etc.

The first two pics are of a 912, not mine. Isn't David the only one who ordered a 912ziricote? I have that large sapwood thing on my wood. Mine is the 915 in the lower pics.

On another note, I talked to Steve today and the 514c is on it's way! He said about 5 days or so. You know the anticipation will be reaching a peak over the weekend!

Joe, there's no guarantee we will even be seeing pics of Diane's guitar. It was one of the rough cocobolo sets. Believe me, I am catching !!!!!!! about my guitars getting done and nary a word or pic about hers.

JR,

That is definitely my guitar. I can actually match wood grain patterns in the back to the photo of my wood sets I have here. The match is completely unmistakable.

The guitar is supposed to have red purfling. I ordered a 2000 spec 912 with no cutaway and no electronics. The red purfling is part of the 200 spec 900 series. Trombone's ziricote set had sap wood.

Click on the link to see me holding my raw wood from Taylorstock and note the "weird" grain pattern below where my name is written in grease pencil. The pattern looks like a duck foot. This pattern is clearly visible in the ziricote on the back of the guitar on page 5.

You're right David, it's got to be yours, the grain just is too identical I see the duck foot too. (maybe those inkblot tests are paying off for me hehehe)

Still no signs of my guitars either. :( I hope they didn't forget about the rest of our guitars.

But you know what....I wouldn't be surprised if Jonathan emailed JR pictures of ALL of our guitars and he's saving them for the DVD. ;) (hint...hint)

When I went back to look at the pic with the 4 guitars in it I noticed that the one on the left doesn't have a cut away. Anyone got an idea if this is a 454 or a 414 that someone ordered? That sure is a beautiful side and it looks like ovangkol in color but the whispy markings look a little like a piece of ziricote that someone picked.

Anyone?

cpmusic

Lisa, I think that's a 414-LTD in imbuia. Who ordered it, I don't know.

Lisa
10-02-2002, 07:47 PM
You know Chris you could be right. It does look like imbuia, not ziricote. Gee, I knew I had seen that grain pattern somewhere before but I didn't put two and two together because I thought the color of the imbuia was more of a walnut shade, that is what threw me off. If it comes in that ovangkol color, then I think you are absolutely correctomondo.

Wouldn't that whispy wood look great with the running horses inlay that Pete Davies Jr did?

Isnt it cool to see these unusual woods?

Hey David,

Hate to disappoint you, but I don't know how good that guitar is going to sound. It looks like they filled the body with RUBBER CEMENT!

Oh well, at least the wood is purty...

PS -- WHERE THE *&%* IS MY GUITAR?!?!?

David, each of these guitars is goint to be magnificient, but your 912 has got to be my favorite of all of them. That's saying a lot! Not only is it going to be gorgeous to behold, I just know it's going to sing as sweetly as they come.

I know everyone ordered what they wanted, but I love your choices:
2000 spec 912 (no C no E)
Englemann top
Ziricote back and sides
Koa binding
Ziricote headstock overlay
Cindy inlay
1 7/8" neck

WOW!

Thanks for the Pics J.R.

This is really getting exciting. I know we probably will not see the Master Cocobolos soon because of the wood being in such a raw state. But I am really enjoying seeing the others.

David, I can't believe how beautiful your guitar is. You certainly made a great choice. There is no doubt in my mind that it will sound as good or better than the whale guitar we were playing.

Rick,

Thanks for posting the pictures for direct comparison. I've spent way too much time admiring the photos of the wood before and after, but it really is nice to have them on one page for direct comparison. Maybe I should call this guitar the VERY limited edition "Duck Foot" model.

Gutch, I had the fine folks at Taylor fill the insides with foam rubber so the guitar wouldn't feedbck when I played live. Don't you think this is a good idea? I'm pretty sure it's going to be a standard option on all CE models after January.

Cotton, Thanks. I'm really excited about it. I also just found out that Rick Crider will be getting something extremely similar, only with a cedar top. I'm really interested in playing the two guitars back to back and get a feel for the difference in sound between englemann and cedar. Rick's guitar is going to be stunning also.

Mike, I can only hope it sounds as good as that GWGS guitar in the performance room. I know some folks didn't like the tone of that guitar very much, but it really spoke to me. Once I heard ziricote with englemann in a GC size with no cutaway I knew I had to have one.

Another day closer...............

David
