I think I recall it being announced last October that the 2007 Monroestock would be on October 20th. Is that correct?
I plan on going to St. Louis to hear Tommy Emmanuel perform at the Sheldon Concert Hall on Friday, October 12th, then spending some time with friends there before going to Raleigh. I'll see my grandkids in Raleigh and come down to Monroe if that date is right. Otherwise, I need to make two separate trips out of Florida.
Unless God sends me back to prison first... :guitar:
Anyone remember?

October 20th is what I have written on my calendar. I think it's always the third Saturday in October.

Agree. It should be the 20th. Nothing official has been announced, but this is the date they were going to shoot for.

I got outvoted by my bandmates, so will be performing up in Munising, MI that weekend. It was the only date we could get at the venue all autumn (and we had to book it last November!). Dang.

Where is this held (address)?
I'm not shooting a wedding that weekend... what is the cost to attend... what do people do? Does everyone bring their guitars to this? How many people attend? Etc, etc. Thanks!

Hey Russ!
This is held in the vicinity of Holloway's Music in Monroe NC. They are the sponsor.
It's free!
Everyone brings their guitars. Some bring multiple guitars.
There are usually some guest performers, lots of mingling and guitars to check out. In the afternoon is an open mic in which anyone can come up and do up to three songs. Holloways gives away many nice door prizes from strings to guitars. There may be workshops on anything from fingerpicking to flatpicking.
Those that come in the night before usually stay at a local hotel and have a big jam session the night before in the hotel lobby. On Saturday, many stay and have dinner at a local restaurant...and jam even more.
Many AGF'ers will be there. Come on down!
Here's some pictures from a previous Monroestock:

Thanks for the info Joe. Hmm... it's about 800 miles from where I am. Wonder if I could make the drive down instead of flying to save a few dollars... Probably would take me two days to drive it though. Leave home on Thursday, arrive on Friday. Leave Monroe on Sunday, get home on Monday.
If I can make it, I'll try. Might be a great way to spend a long weekend! What hotel do most of the guys stay at?

I only live about 30 mins from there so I'm not positively sure what hotel is used. I'm thinking it's the Best Western Inn and Suites on Hanover. I think they do a group discount.
Keep an eye out in the forum here as it get's closer. There is usually a mega thread with details and people posting as to whether they are coming or not.

Thanks Joe. Maybe I can see if anyone in the Chicago area is interested in doing a long weekend too. Might help in taking the edge off driving so far.
I'll keep my eye out for announcements as the date nears.
