I was planning to be in the DC area for the Washington Pen Show (Aug. 7-11, most likely). Can certainly spare a few hours for picking!

I say it should be August because there's the big gathering in October down in NC. I don't have a problem with doing it August 11th so Sandy can join us.

Hello everyone. August 11 looks good for me as well.

Location? Host? Besides a date, those two variables seem rather important. As much as I'd like to host another get-together, our little rowhouse is even smaller with all the baby goodies that come along with the baby :)

I had to cancel out at the last minute last time due to a family matter. Most unfortunate since all accounts (and pics) make it look like such a great time. Would love to join in this time but will be in Washington and Oregon on vacation the 1st 2 weeks in August. Will be looking forward to the next opportunity. Could even host. Live in Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Have plenty of room inside and out. One of these days.

I could only do a couple of hrs. on the 11th because I need to spend some time with my sister and niece out between Arlington & Tyson's Cor. I'm flying home that evening and have a Sun. morning gig, but a couple of hours is better than none. Don't feel you have to schedule this around me!

Hi all:

I come back from three weeks in Maine on the night of 8/11 or 8/12. Set your date and I will do my absolute best to make it.

Too bad my family is going on a cruise to the Bahamas/Cayman starting 8/11.

11th might seem rushed for pat and mismo. so 11th still isn't set in stone

I'm interested. Early August is bad for me as well, but don't plan around me.

Any opportunity to play has my vote. Keep me informed of the plans.

As soon as I am able to work out a couple of schedule complications, I will have an idea of when I can offer to host. It is looking like the most likely dates are going to be either saturday september 15, saturday september 22, or saturday september 29. should be able to offer something more definite in about a week. October could be possible too, but the chances of the weather being good for playing outside are better in september. seems like people mentioned having allergies last time and I have 3 cats in the house. Not pushing this on anyone, but I have enough space for people to play inside in a couple of rooms at the same time, on the back porch, and in the yard. Located in Bethesda/Chevy Chase about a 20 minute walk from Friendship Heights Metro pretty near Chevy Chase Circle. Thoughts on any and all related matters are encouraged since I haven't done one of these before.

One vote for September 15. Thanks for the host offer, Jeff.

Not that everyone plans around Monroe, but I do. Monroe is the annual North Carolina Jam which will, in all likelihood, be held the third weekend of October.

If I can wriggle free from my duties running FARM later in the month (and that's a big "if") I'll try to make it, especially since it's between the High Holy Days.

I have cleared the date of September 15 and can host a Washington, DC gathering. Have to leave town on a family matter in the morning and won't be back til Sunday evening. Won't have computer access til then either. Just wanted folks to know so folks can start thinking about their plans. Have no experience at this but will contact Martha Stewart and Miss Manners right away. Will depend on you folks for recommendations. Will have a finished basement and a couple of good size rooms available, and if the weather is cooperative, a small porch, a good size patio, and a big yard. Seems like the rest will be up to interested parties to make it work.

Any and all suggestions, input, etc. welcome. Look forward to meeting people and sharing a good time. and thanks in advance to my wife for making the space.

Washington DC on September 15 is a go. Time for me and interested parties to get planning. I plan on contacting previous hosts for recommendations regarding anything and everything that needs to get planned. My first thoughts are based on recollections of the last gathering (which I had to cancel out on at the last minute) and they are the timing would be an early afternoon start (12-1?) till about 6pm or so. Again, all suggestions, requests, and feedback are welcome - PM or here.

If I read the posts correctly, the early commitments include ericsong, moga, cakes, stevez, pmccaskey and myself. good start. hope it isn't bad form, but I have invited my guitar teacher and he is interested. good guy and a great musician. Will contact folks who attended the last one and try and get an idea of what works well and what doesn't. So people know, I will be away on vacation the 1st 2 weeks in August and very difficult to get a hold of during that time period. Should have no impact on planning that I can see. Really looking forward to it. Contact me anyway you like with suggestions, questions, etc.

Hi all, new member from Baltimore, first post ever:

I'm interested in meeting fellow guitar enthusiasts but I am somewhat new to guitar. How annoying is that? Wouldn't mind hanging with an eye toward getting aquainted though. What do you think?

Love to have you, ilex. All skill levels are welcome. It's as much about the fellowship as anything.
