Great. If you bums are coming, there is no way I am going to embarass myself by bringing my guitar! :D

Just a bump/reminder that this is tomorrow. If you're there and see a dude with a scraggly beard, a wife with a knee brace and two young daughters, that would be me. My wife is after me to bring my guitar, but I think my limited skills warrant being a spectator more than a participant.

Good to see you there Joe - we looked around for you later on in case you wanted to check out the Henderson but you must have left, as we didn't see you anywhere. Thanks for posting this on the forum though - it was a nice way to spend an afternoon and only the second time I've had the chance to sit down and figure tunes out on the fly (well, chords anyway, and I'd be lost without Allen's hand to watch!). Had good time though and my fingers are sore today which tells me I did some good. ;)

Thanks for sharing the info!

Thanks Lauren,

Good to see you guys too! There sure were enough Martins there. I am still quite a crude and skilless flatpicker myself, but maybe next year I will actually bring a guitar and annoy some folks!

Sorry I didn't make it back over. We were going to come back over to your tent after we toured the museum, but if you noticed, my wife Tina had a knee brace on her left leg. We were in a softball tournament a couple of weeks ago and she detached her ACL and ripped up some cartilage. Surgery next Monday. She just wasn't up for heading back up the hill. See ya in October at Monroestock I guess!

Joe - that's a heck of a bummer about your wife's knee. I grew up playing soccer and personally witnessed a couple of friend tear their ACL's. The good thing (if there is any) is that the medical community is so equipped to repair that type of injury and offer the right therapy to get the knee moving again like it should. I've even heard a repaired ACL is stronger than an unrepaired ACL in the other, unaffected leg. Good luck to her in surgery, and I can't blame her for avoiding that hill.

As for the Martins, yeah - there were a bunch! I really like Allen's D-42 even though we both agree it's a bit big for me, being a dread, and one day I'll get a 000-size model (maybe Martin, maybe not). But for now, it just got a nice, rich sound I enjoy. Especially when *I'm* not playing it. <g>

If you're ever looking for a list of fiddle tunes, and tab/chords, try kimandmikeontheroad.com. They're friends of Allen's and Mike has tabbed out whole library of tunes - his arrangements - and with the TablEdit download you can fire 'em up and play along. It's helping me a lot as I try and learn tunes.
