I was getting ready to run yesterday and pulled on an ice blue t-shirt. On the front it said Taylorstock 2002. It just got me remembering that weekend in San Diego at the the Taylor Factory with a group of people that I had never met from a guitar forum that I read often but hardly ever posted to. Oops I didn't mean to end that sentence with a preposition. I can't help but think that we possibly got the first R. Taylor guitars. All the wood picked with the help of Boib Taylor himself fronm his private stash and he said he monitored the construction of each instrument. I still play mine often but it has never been gigged or played by anyone else without my direct supervision. It is an 814c cocobolo with redwood top. It has sapwood on the back and sides. One beautiful axe.
I also made some friends that I would have never met otherwise. All in all the ultimate guitar get together. Sorry for the lenght of the post but the memories are still around. Mike

I was two months into my return to Guitar playing when Taylor Stock took place. At that point I had just learned what a Taylor guitar was. When I hung it up the first time (about 1972) Taylor Guitars hand not even been born.
So, I missed the event but I still enjoy it; as I own one of the guitars created at the event. In December 2004 I purchased one of the 810's that Ian Anderson had built. It is a marvelous guitar.:D

I was playing my guitar this weekend thinking about exactly that. ;)
The truss rod cover says "Taylorstock 2002" and I thought to myself "wow, 5 years already?!"

I wish Taylor would do more of these. Breedlove does something similar every year called "The Extraordinary Experience"
For $6,000 you get the deluxe treament here in Central Oregon including concerts, golf, whitewater rafting, etc.. food, lodging AND a $6,000 guitar allowance.
Pretty nice..
If your into that kind of thing :D

Wonderful memories. Taylorstock was an amazing event for all who had the opportunity to attend. Those who did will never forget. I guess Taylorstock was an appropriate name after all. :)
