As part of the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement, Queen Elizabeth II will be visiting Richmond tomorrow (Thursday, 5/3). Musicians from around Virginia will be performing during the event, including Wayne Henderson & Dr. Ralph Stanley, among others (list below).

Music Festival at the Capitol
Virginia's Royal Welcome will be a tribute to the state's musical heritage in bluegrass, gospel, jazz and blues. Legendary musician Dr. Ralph Stanley, as well as Jane Powell, Robbin Thompson and the Richmond Boys Choir, No Speed Limit and others are scheduled to perform. It will be a show for all ages and offer something for everyone.

Open to the Public:
Capitol Square opens at 11:00 a.m. more details

Great afternoon of music and monarchy, although the weather was a little uncooperative. I'll upload some pics later, but the high points were the performances by Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys, Wayne Henderson, No Speed Limit and Montana Young. Today is Wayne's birthday...as he opened his short set, he was sure to thank Her Majesty for making the trip across the pond for his special day.
